Starting from today (1 July), the tax required for passengers to depart through Seletar Airport will be increased from S$29 to S$49, an increase of nearly 7%!
The airport's passenger service and security fees have increased from S$25.9 to S$41, which is not far from the S$46.4 charge at Changi Airport. The increased revenue from the fee increase will be used not only to fund the Group's working capital, but also to improve the infrastructure of Seletar Airport.
The aviation tax levied by the Civil Aviation Authority has been raised from S$3.1 to S$8, the same as at Changi Airport. Aviation tax is mainly used for aviation hub development and various regulatory functions. According to the CAA's annual report, the CAA collected S$89.8 million in aviation tax for the financial year ended March 31 last year.
Seletar Airport's passenger service and security charges will be increased over the next two years, rising to S$44 on 1 April 2025 and then to S$47 in April 2026.
The new fee was approved by the Civil Aviation Authority in March.
Passenger service and security fees and aviation taxes will be shown on the ticket price when the passenger purchases the ticket.
Seletar Airport's passenger service and security fees have remained unchanged since 2018, and the aviation tax of S$3.1 has been maintained for 13 years.
On November 7 last year, Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat pointed out in a written reply to Parliament that as of November 2023, Seletar Airport has exceeded the level of 2019 and the runway is close to saturation.
Currently, Seletar Airport has 6 daily flights to and from Kuala Lumpur Subang Airport.
In addition, Seletar Airport will also impose a Minimum Departure Flight Charge (MDFC) of S$1,100 per flight, and aircraft landing and parking fees at the airport will continue to increase.
