As usual, on the first day of July, BYD announced its sales data for June this year for the first time. Cumulative sales were 342,000 units, of which 340,000 were passenger cars.
It increased by 35.2% year-on-year and also increased slightly month-on-month. Among them, the sales volume of pure electric vehicles was 145,200 units, and the sales volume of plug-in hybrid models was 195,000 units.
In terms of brands, the two major series, BYD Dynasty and Ocean, are still the main sales force of BYD, with total sales of 325,000 units in June, a year-on-year increase of 35%. Denza Auto sold 12,000 units in June, up 11% year-on-year. Formula Leopard and Yangwang sold 2,680 and 418 units respectively in June.
In overseas markets, BYD continued to make strong progress in June, with total exports of 27,000 units, up 156.2% y/y.
As for the specific sales volume of each model, BYD has not officially announced. However, we can roughly estimate which models of BYD had the best sales in June based on the current sales data for June.
The model with the highest sales volume will probably be the BYD Qin PLUS. Since the launch of the 79,800 yuan Qin PLUS Glory Edition model in February this year, it can be said that it has formed a dimensionality reduction blow to the domestic joint venture car of the same level. Whether it is Nissan Sylphy or Volkswagen Lavida, or Toyota Corolla, which has very good domestic sales of joint venture sedans of the same level, they have been overtaken by Qin PLUS. It is conservatively estimated that the sales volume of Qin PLUS in June should also remain at about 50,000 units, and continue to become the sales champion of domestic sedans.
The second best-selling model is the Seagull, as the current entry-level model of BYD, although the Seagull is not early on the market, and the price is not cheap in the same class of models, but with its unique appearance design, excellent product power and BYD brand influence, the Seagull has achieved hot sales on the market. In the domestic sedan market, the Seagull has also become one of the best-selling models. The number of seagulls is expected to be around 35,000 in June this year.
The third place is likely to be the Song PLUS, which is not only one of the best-selling models in the domestic SUV market, but also the sales champion of compact SUVs and plug-in hybrid SUVs. In the face of many competitors, although the overall sales of Song PLUS have decreased slightly after entering 2024. However, the monthly sales volume can basically maintain more than 30,000 units.
In addition to the above three models, the sales of Yuan PLUS, Song Pro and Destroyer 05 in June are conservatively estimated to be more than 20,000 units, of which Yuan PLUS may also hit the monthly sales of 30,000.
As for BYD's three new cars launched this year, the Hiace 07EV, the Seal 06 DM-i and the Qin L DM-i, from the current point of view, there should be no force in sales in June.
BYD's cumulative sales in January ~ June this year were 1.61 million units, a year-on-year increase of nearly 30%. As of the end of June this year, BYD's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles have exceeded 7.9 million.
