Continuing a unique narrative
Located in the Arctic Circle in northern Finland, this award-winning 'Arctic Treehouse' was designed by Studio Puisto a few years ago. The expanded hotel has a new look with the addition of three executive suites and a new pre-function area inside the restaurant. These expansions continue the design aesthetic and sensuality of the existing resort, enhancing the hotel's original landscape and providing guests with the opportunity to immerse themselves in it. The hotel offers a variety of ways to relax and unwind, allowing guests to enjoy the infectious power of the Arctic scenery and to relax and feel themselves.
▼ Project Overview
▼ Floor-to-ceiling windows allow guests to better appreciate the Arctic scenery
Although the entire building layout is similar to the original, the façade features a specially treated dark brown custom panel. The 3D milled panels look like the scales of a pine cone, and they distinguish these suites from the rest of the rooms, heralding a different living experience inside.

Architectural design
The reception is an exclusive area within the hotel's restaurant, with dark painted wood walls similar to those of the restaurant, evoking a sense of mystery, gloom and tranquility that belongs to the Arctic. In addition, this design enhances the guest experience: after a comfortable time at home in the quiet reception, the restaurant is greeted by a breathtaking view of the natural landscape through the narrow corridor to the restaurant's large floor-to-ceiling windows. Here, the light of the central fireplace acts as a warm element, contrasting with the wilderness outside the window.

For the Arctic View Suite, one of the most striking spatial changes stems from the development of the concept of natural wellness. They are larger than before, and a sauna and bath area have been added to the original design.

Details of material selection
The interior materials of the rooms are distinctly Finnish, and together they create a fresh and soothing atmosphere that blends harmoniously with the pristine nature of the surroundings. This contrast results in a nest-like interior, where the temperature and tactility of the materials enhance the sense of security and calmness of the occupants.
▼Living room detail
All the senses are taken care of in the room: the living room is decorated with soft textiles to create a laid-back atmosphere; The wood paneling on the walls creates a pleasant sound and exudes a fresh, natural atmosphere. All the furniture in the house is custom-made with a similar material concept. In addition, there is a small bunk hanging from the wall, which provides a more intimate and safe secluded space for residents.
▼Looking from the living room to the bedroom
The intimate selection of materials is also reflected in some small details. Local skincare products and handmade linens, such as locally produced skincare products, not only meet the actual needs of guests during their stay, but also provide an authentic lifestyle experience.

Experience the moment
Clever spatial transitions are one of the main building elements of the hotel. The first thing you see when you walk into the suite area is the dark lacquered wood walls of the reception. Passing through the hallway, natural light pours down at the end. The scenery is carefully outlined in the sunlight, and the eyes of the guests are unconsciously focused on the window. This stark contrast creates a powerful punch that awakens every guest's senses and ultimately leaves a lingering memory in the guest's mind.
▼A corner of the bedroom with excellent lighting
Inside, floor-to-ceiling windows take up an entire wall, keeping the space light and ethereal. These windows also allow the interior and exterior to remain intimately connected in all seasons, creating an infectious living atmosphere. Whether it's a coffee in the morning or a sauna in the evening, guests can feel an exclusive intimacy. Even in private areas, there is a connection to nature, such as the smart glass window in front of the bathtub that changes transparency.

Whether it's the Arctic View Suite or the reception space, all expansions are designed to deepen and enrich the guest's stay at the hotel. The resort has a different landscape and core in each season, so it's worth visiting at any time. In particular, the Arctic View Suites have a spa that combines natural scenery and relaxation. The warmth of the fire, the cold mist, the smell of the wilderness, all of this takes a break from our busy daily lives – in this brief moment, allows us to truly feel and embrace all that life has to offer.
