The reporter learned from the State Grid Gansu Liujiaxia Hydropower Plant that from June 12 to 30, the Liujiaxia Reservoir had a total of 2.3 billion cubic meters of water to ensure the drought-fighting work in the Yellow River Basin. As the Yellow River entered the main flood season, from 8 a.m. on July 1, according to the latest order of the Yellow River Water Conservancy Commission, the reservoir reduced its outflow and shifted its focus to flood control.
It is understood that since June, affected by high temperature and little rain, many provinces (regions) in the Yellow River Basin have experienced drought of varying degrees. In response, the Yellow River Water Conservancy Commission has carried out joint operation of a number of key reservoirs, including the Liujiaxia Reservoir. Among them, the average daily outflow of Liujiaxia Reservoir has increased to 1,400 cubic meters per second, and the average daily outflow of water has exceeded 120 million cubic meters.
With the effective implementation of drought control and irrigation protection, coupled with the recent precipitation process in the arid areas, the drought situation has been greatly alleviated. Taking into account the upstream water, reservoir storage and downstream water use, the Liujiaxia Reservoir has reduced the average daily outflow to 1,300 cubic meters per second.
Liujiaxia Reservoir, located in Yongjing County, Gansu Province, is a large-scale water conservancy reservoir in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, which undertakes the tasks of power generation and flood control, irrigation and flood control in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River.
