Amber's "Catalogue of Famous Doctors" is listed as the top grade, saying that it "is the main and the five organs, and the soul is fixed,...... eliminate blood stasis and pass through five showers", which clarifies the functions of amber in three aspects: calming the nerves, invigorating blood, and clearing drenching. The "Collection of Materia Medica" is also called "hemostasis and muscle, alloy sores". "Rihuazi Materia Medica" also added functions such as "curing Gu poison, strengthening the heart, sharpening the eyes, stopping heartache and madness, and breaking the disease". Liu Yuan also said: "Clear the lungs and benefit the small intestine". All these further enrich the function of amber. Physicians throughout the ages have used amber extensively to treat a wide range of ailments and created many proven medicines.
Chinese medicine
The traditional Chinese medicine amber is the resin of the ancient pine family, which is buried underground and transformed over time. It is mainly produced in Guangxi, Yunnan, Liaoning and Henan. It can be mined at any time, and after being dug out of the ground or coal seam, it removes impurities such as sand and gravel, soil, etc. This product has a slight gas and light taste. It is better to be red, bright, neat, crunchy, and fragile. Mash it and grind it into a fine powder.
This product is sweet and flat. Return to the heart, liver, bladder meridians. It has the effect of calming the nerves, invigorating blood and dissipating stasis, diuretic and drenching.
Note: Yin deficiency and internal heat and no stasis should not be used.
Amber was first published in the "Famous Doctors' Catalogue", and has been recorded in the Materia Medica of all dynasties since then. In the Tang Dynasty, it was called "Tiger Spirit", and the cover "Tiger Soul is turned into stone when it dies, and this thing is similar to it, so it is called Tiger Spirit". The Book of Han is called "Tiger Po", the Book of the Later Han Dynasty is called "Amber", and the Book of Sui is called "Beast". After the Liang Dynasty, the materia medica was named "amber". Amber is red "like blood", so it is also called "blood amber" and "red amber". Its color is jet black and shiny, immediately "black amber", mostly from the coal seam, so it is also called "coal amber".
Regarding the formation of amber, Tao Hongjing's "Commentary on the Materia Medica" clearly pointed out that amber was "lost to the ground and turned into a thousand years", correcting some erroneous statements that circulated at that time. Han Baosheng's "Shu Materia Medica" further pointed out that "maple resin has become amber for thousands of years, and not pine resin alone".
"Lei Gong Cannon Theory" divides amber into 7 varieties, clouds: "all uses, red pine resin, stone amber, water amber, flower amber, object image amber, amber, amber".

Its taste is sweet and light, and it can make the lung qi descend and pass through the bladder (Jing said: Eating and drinking into the stomach, overflowing essence. The upper infusion is in the spleen, the spleen is dispersed, the upper part is returned to the lungs, the water channel is regulated, and the bladder is infused down. All the permeable medicine is up and then down), so it can cure the five showers, facilitate urination, and dry the spleen and soil (from the dilution of the medicine, then the water is good. However, if the stone medicine is dry, if there is less blood and urination is not good, it will only cause the pain of dryness and urgency), and it can be sharpened.
