The population exploded in the 60s, and now it is afraid of a "death peak"! How do you say that?
Two days ago, I met Professor Ding, who is studying the problem of aging, and this chat was amazing, and he directly gave me enlightenment. Guess what he said? It turns out that our country is about to usher in a "peak period of death" in the population! This is a long story, and we have to start after the founding of New China.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, people lived and worked in peace and contentment, and their lives became more and more beautiful day by day.
No, the common people are busy starting a family and having children, and China's population is rising like a rocket! The aunt next door said that within a few years, the children in the compound could step on the lawn, as many as rabbits. If you flip through the household registration book of the year, which family can't have five or six babies!
In this way, by the beginning of the 60s, the number of new births in our country reached more than 20 million every year! In 1963, the most exaggerated number, the number was almost 30 million.
If you think about it, there are more newborns a year than the total population of a medium-sized country, and that's a really good fertility rate. With a huge young labor force, our country's construction is really like a tiger with wings, and the productivity is rising! This demographic dividend has enjoyed more than half a century.
But there are two sides to everything, and there is no such thing as a feast that will never be dissolved. According to the laws of demography, these babies born in the 60s are now at an age of ancient times.
Generally speaking, around the age of 75 is the peak of death, and now 90% of the elderly have reached the end of their lives. This is like being born together back then, and now we want to go together, this meeting is unimaginable.
In fact, we have two major events in front of us now. One is to enter a well-off society, and the other is to enter an aging society. According to the calculations of experts, in a few decades, the number of elderly deaths will reach 20 million every year, and the mortality rate is close to the birth rate of that year!
If you look at Hong Kong, what has become of the funeral industry.
We have to plan ahead, right? The life, medical care, law, dignity, hospice care, and hospice services of the elderly must all be put on the agenda, and they should be as important as the large-scale education and production in the past. Otherwise, this generation is in a hurry, living hard, and aggrieved, and we are worthy of future generations.
Having said that, since ancient times, no one has died, this is the law of nature. We need to change our concept and establish a complete aging coping mechanism. It is necessary to respect every life and give the old man a dignified farewell. This requires the joint efforts of the whole society, and everyone needs to have this heart. If everyone can take care of every elderly person as they do a new life, I believe that death can become less terrible.
Of course, family planning is still our national policy. You have to live, but don't patronize the young, the old are just as important!
In the next few decades, there will be more than 100 million people who will end their lives, with an average of more than 10 million a year, which is not a small number. So, from now on, we have to take precautions and deal with it as soon as possible.
The tide of aging has been coming, and no one can avoid birth, old age, sickness and death. Put the cause of the elderly on the important agenda, improve the pension system, establish a dignified and good death, so that this generation has no regrets, so that future generations can take warning.
These are situations that the upper echelons of our society need to think about as soon as possible! Otherwise, this generation is born, and it is time to live, and there is no one to rely on! Everyone seems to be crammed into a floating raft, which is indeed embarrassing and inhumane!
If you are a post-60s generation, what are you most worried about? Any good suggestions?
