This mixed-use Andares complex designed by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos is a visionary urban complex that makes the Puerta de Hierro area the new urban center of Zapopan. The Andares master plan was officially launched in 2009 and includes a shopping mall and high-rise residential buildings, but expansion has been planned. The Andares Regency Hotel & Residences Tower is part of the master plan, a 7,000-square-meter project that includes a hotel and luxury apartments.
▼Project appearance and urban texture
The tower of Hyatt Regency Andares provides a visual and spatial backdrop for the internal driveways of the Paseo Andares complex, which serve the different functional areas within the complex and complement the urban layout. The tower has 41 floors from the ground. The ground floor includes a shaded public plaza that connects to the streets within the complex, which also serves as an evacuation area for cars.

The volume resembles a raised elongated prism, with the main façade facing north and south, presenting a five-part structure vertically through window openings, divided horizontally by terraces. The east and west facades are closed structures with only vertical vents. The façade uses materials in plain tones, with pure white concrete elegantly framing the black aluminium and glass.

As far as the project itself is concerned, the tower is divided into the following structure: the hotel occupies the lower 12 floors, and the upper 28 floors are used as residential apartments, each with its own services. The 13th floor serves as a service and facility conversion layer for two functional types. The lobby level welcomes residents and gives hotel guests the feeling that they have arrived at the hotel. 257 luxury hotel rooms occupy floors 2 to 12, including 25 unique suites.

Located in the northeast corner of the tower, the vertical transportation core is divided by use and capacity, with three elevators for residential apartments and three for hotel guests.

The hotel space starts at the lobby level and includes several retail areas, meeting rooms, and a mini-ballroom to meet the commercial needs of the area. On subsequent floors, hotel facilities such as the lobby lounge, bar, restaurant and main ballroom are located on the upper floor of the lobby, while the swimming pool, gym and exclusive members' club are located on the second floor.

The residential part starts from the 14th floor of the tower, each floor has an area of 1080 square meters and each floor has 105 apartments with different layouts ranging from 125 square meters to 250 square meters, and the top floor of the tower is two penthouses.

The swimming pool is the centerpiece of the residential amenities, occupying a two-storey space with a south-facing terrace. The multipurpose room is located in the eastern part of the building, close to the elevator and visually connects the terrace to the Paseo Andares.

In order to complete each interior space and provide a warm atmosphere, the architect collaborated with artist César López Negrete, who was responsible for creating unique artworks for the hotel's public spaces. Similarly, Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos collaborated with Rodrigo Vargas Design and LR Arquitectura on the concept design and hotel interiors. The Hyatt Regency Regency Tower is not only a new architectural trend that positions Jalisco as an example of high-caliber architecture in Mexico, it is also the second tallest hotel in Mexico, reaching a height of approximately 173 meters.
