After bouncing tickets at the beginning of the year, "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" was finally announced on BilibiliWorld that it will be officially released on October 24.
A new main visual drawn by Keiji Hita, an illustrator who was in charge of the main visual creation of "Three Kingdoms 14".
With the release of the finalization news, there is also the latest version of the game's PV, from which it can be seen that compared with the previous promotion, a lot of new content on the gameplay system has been revealed - such as the "fate" system that forms a mutually beneficial relationship between different generals, and the possibility of "cooperation" is derived from this. The basis of the relationship is based on historical facts, but it can also change according to the player's continuous choices.
In addition, there is a new "heads-up" system, as well as a newly added "tongue fight" system for intellectual generals, which completely changes the combat part of the original game.
With the release date and the release of these new contents, the new title launched under the name of a remake is surely becoming more and more appealing to fans of the series.
We also participated in an interview with producer Kazuhiro Echigoya on the spot, and listened to him answer some of the questions that players were concerned about, as well as some of the development process of the project and his personal impressions.
The following is a summary of the interview, which has been partially condensed for ease of reading.
Q: Why did you choose Three Kingdoms 8 for the remake?
A: There are many reasons, first of all, when we decided to remake a "Three Kingdoms" work, what we wanted was to choose a work with a military commander to play the gameplay and the latest work in the series "Three Kingdoms 14" with the monarch to play the gameplay. Make a difference.
Another key reason for choosing "Three Kingdoms 8" is that it has the most complete era script in the series, and it is also the first work in the series that can choose the beginning of the game from the generals rather than the script.
Q: Regarding the mutual birth and restraint system between military generals, will there be a situation where close relationships such as righteous brothers or spouses resist each other?
A: It is impossible for a brother or a spouse to resist each other. However, in extreme cases, such as when a player controls a military commander who intends to kill his or her brother-in-law or spouse, a negative relationship such as dissolving the original relationship and forming enemies may occur.
Q: Regarding the new military general attribute "Wizard", how many generals currently have Wizard in the game, and what are the effects? Can a self-built military general have a wizard?
A: Of the 1,000 generals in the game, 30 have prodigies. is like Zhang Fei's genius "Ten Thousand Enemies", the effect is that the more enemies he has, the stronger he becomes; And Xun Yu's genius "Wang Zuo" is that when he is the monarch or too punctual, he will have a faster natural growth rate of troops; Another example is Zhou Yu's "Vulcan" wizard to enhance the effect of fire attack, etc., it should not be difficult for everyone to imagine the "wizard" attributes and effects of these famous generals.
The Wizard attribute added in Three Kingdoms 8 Remake is enhanced on the basis of the personality system of Three Kingdoms 14. While Wizards cannot be taught to others, players can add Wizard attributes to any Commander through the editing function.
Q: It sounds like the effect of Wizards is very significant, but there are very few generals, will it cause players to tend to play these special generals?
A: In fact, it is also fun to choose generals who do not have wizards and establish relationships with generals who have wizards, so as to play strategy games. I think there will be players who don't want to play these famous players directly, but want to be friends with them.
During the production process, there was a proposal to increase the number of Wizards, but after discussion, we decided that if there were too many Wizards, it would wear out this unique personality, so we decided to keep this number at 30. If a player complains after the game's release, "Why doesn't this general have a genius", we can only apologize for it - this is a decision made after careful consideration.
Q: What are the reasons for the significant changes to the heads-up system?
A: The current heads-up system is based on a series of trial and error and exploration. We decided that the original heads-up system of "Three Kingdoms 8" was not interesting enough, so we decided to overturn and redo this part, and we went through several restarts in the process, which took a lot of time.
In today's version, when the difference in the ability values of the two sides is small, the side with the highest force will not necessarily be able to defeat the side with the lower force, but will be affected by some luck elements, I hope everyone will find this more exciting and interesting.
Q: "Three Kingdoms 8" is a relatively old game, has this remake made any adjustments to the playing habits of modern players?
A: First of all, we put a lot of effort into improving the game's interface, keeping the original style and making a lot of innovations to make it easier for everyone to pick up and play. For example, adding flashing red dots to the icons of some key systems guides novice players to use these important features.
But veteran players don't have to worry, "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" is still essentially a very traditional Three Kingdoms work, and the series has developed to the largest volume so far, and both new and old players must find fun in this game.
Q: Can players choose to use the old version of the Commander Portrait and Portrait in the remastered version?
A: In addition to the original part of this work, the portraits of military generals use images from the recent work "Three Kingdoms 14".
Q: In a past interview, you mentioned that if "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" sells well and can be remade from other series, what kind of sales target does that mean?
A: That's a hard question to answer...... The specific sales target is not determined by me personally, but by the company. From my personal point of view, it will take at least to the point where it will be able to make a profit before there will be the next work. To be honest, the development cost of "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" has exceeded 14 generations, so I still hope that "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" can achieve better sales results than 14 generations.
Q: Will there be a "Power Boost" version in this remaster?
A: There are no such plans at the moment. It's not up to me to decide whether or not to release the "Power Boost" version, so I can't give a definitive answer at this time.
Q: Were there any major disagreements within the team during the development process, and how did you balance the different opinions within the team as a producer?
A: There are a lot of differences of opinion within the team. For example, the heads-up and wizards mentioned just now have had big differences of opinion, and in the end, it will be up to me to make a decision. There are also some key members of the team, and some issues will be discussed and decided by them. For example, the developer and producer, Mr. Ishikawa, was involved in the development of "Three Kingdoms 8" back then, so everyone respected his opinion; The director of this time was also in charge of "Three Kingdoms 13PK", and his opinion is also very important. We don't just make decisions by majority votes, but we get everyone's approval through consultation, and then I make the decision.
Q: What are the elements of the original that you insisted on retaining or changing in this remake?
A: First of all, the part that is retained, the system foundation of the game has not changed, "Three Kingdoms 8" was developed based on "Three Kingdoms 7", and the concept set at first was not "military generals playing", but "military generals playing", which refers to the situation in the world from the perspective of each military general, which is also retained in "Three Kingdoms 8" as the core.
The main change is the part that was not highly rated by players at the beginning, for example, many players felt that the game had long battles, so the pace of battles was improved. There are also cities such as the interface, which was ineffective in the original evaluation, but we still made some optimizations on the basis of the original.
Q: Does the Echigodani producer himself prefer to control well-known historical figures to dominate the world in the game, or play a small role to survive in troubled times?
A: Personally, I would prefer to play the role of an ordinary military general who is not so capable, and gradually unify the whole country through my own efforts. Of course, this is because I'm already very familiar with the fans of the Three Kingdoms series, and I'll want to seek some challenges like how far I can go with a very mediocre military general like Liu Chan. For beginners, I still recommend starting with a stronger general.
Q: Finally, would you like to say a few words to the domestic players?
A: Although "Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" is a remake, we actually invested a higher cost than a new work to make it, and it has reached an unprecedented volume. I hope this will be a testament to the attitude that we want to make a great work. I'm looking forward to seeing how much fun you can get into this work and feel it for yourself, thank you again!
