preface
"China wants to buy? Don't sell! Originally, Norway hoped to get up to 300 million euros by selling the last piece of private land in the Arctic, but because China revealed its intention to buy, they were directly "scared" to abandon the sale.
I have never heard of any friction between Norway and China, but I did not expect that just a reasonable transaction behavior would involve the unknown hidden story behind it, and NATO even stated that it would make China "pay the price".
Why is Norway so wary of China? Does China still have unimpeded access to the Arctic?
The last private land in the Arctic
According to foreign media reports, in mid-May this year, Norway plans to sell a piece of land in the southwest of Svalbard, since it is the last private land in the Arctic, natural things are rare and expensive, and the Norway government has also offered a price of up to 300 million euros.
You must know that this is in the extreme north of the earth, and it is difficult for ordinary people to adapt to the extreme living environment here, so the ultimate purpose of buying this land is to rely on the unique geographical and natural environment of the local area to do some targeted scientific research.
Originally, after such a deal was completed, it would form a win-win situation, and who would have thought that when the Chinese buyer expressed his willingness to buy the land, the Norway government would not do it.
For this reason, the Norway authorities even directly made the decision to stop the sale of the land, giving a very straightforward explanation: to prevent other countries, including China, from buying it.
This is a bit intriguing, why add China in front of the name of "other" countries, isn't it obvious that they don't want to sell to China?
So why is Norway targeting China alone?
Unilaterally "tore up" the Centennial Treaty
In the words of Norway's Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecily Millset: "This could destabilize the region and could jeopardize Norway's interests." ”
This is strange, I have never heard of any irreconcilable contradictions between China and Norway, let alone that China only helps other countries develop, and has never harmed the interests of any country.
And as early as 1925, Duan Qirui, then Premier of the Beiyang Government of China, sent a special envoy to Paris, France, to sign the Svalbard Treaty on behalf of the Chinese government.
The long-term agreement gives all Chinese citizens the right to enter and leave the island freely and without a visa, provided they cannot engage in any military-related activities on the island.
Nearly 100 years have passed since the signing of this agreement, and mainland citizens have also fully complied with the agreement, and every time they enter the place, they are engaged in legitimate study, work, production and business activities.
Even in 2004, the Chinese Academy of Sciences established the Yellow River station there, laying the foundation for scientific expeditions to the Arctic, which was naturally looked upon by the Norway government.
Whether China has engaged in military activities or not, Norway certainly knows, but it still unilaterally "tore" the century-old treaty without asking questions.
Is China really a "threat" to their interests, as Norway thinks?
Norway's "Careful Thinking"
What is it that makes Norway so disrespectful, even if it gives up the sale of land, does not want to fall into the hands of China? The answer is actually quite simple, most likely because of Sino-Russian relations.
The Russia-Ukraine conflict is now one of the main contradictions in international relations, and China has always followed the principle of peaceful development and never advocated that any country resolve the contradictions by force.
However, since the relationship between China and Russia has always been relatively harmonious, the two countries also often cooperate and trade, which is not a secret in the world.
However, Western countries led by United States do not think so, and even their shadows are behind the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, in this case, the relationship between China and Russia has naturally become the object of their "focus".
Especially in recent years, China's rapid development, whether it is science and technology or economy, has made United States feel that its "hegemon" status has been threatened.
Everyone knows the tone of the United States, if there is anything that it must not dare to do on its own, but leads a group of "little brothers" to chase and intercept it, and Norway, as one of the NATO members, naturally also looks forward to the "big brother".
It just so happens that part of the archipelago where Norway sells the land this time actually belongs to Russia, and they may think that if China wins this land, it may provide more convenient help to Russia.
However, China is the most honest country in the world, and since it has promised not to carry out military activities in the area, it will only develop this land within the limits stipulated in international treaties.
Norway's behavior is obviously a bit of "living the belly of a gentleman with the heart of a villain", but whether it is his own meaning or the meaning of the "big brother" behind it is unknown.
Moreover, NATO's recent frequent signals, smearing and attacking China and shifting blame, have exposed their true purpose.
How thick NATO's "skin" is
NATO was first founded on the basis of a strategic defense alliance, but through years of continuous expansion, the world has seen the ambition of this organization.
And NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has repeatedly mentioned Sino-Russian relations in recent speeches, reminding China to keep its distance from Russia, otherwise it will make China pay the "price".
We don't know exactly what this "price" is, but perhaps Norway's ban on the sale of this land to China should be one of the so-called "costs".
But look at who has been acting as a "-stirring stick" in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, who has been obstructing the end of the conflict, and who is doing shameless deeds under the banner of "justice".
As an organization that has never known self-reflection, it has tried in vain to exert pressure on China through international means to achieve ulterior goals.
However, China has always adhered to the principle of friendly and peaceful development in the whole world, and we have never taken the initiative to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, nor do we want any country to be in the midst of war and chaos.
In the face of NATO's groundless accusations, of course, we will not sit idly by, and China will not accept any threats, coercion and temptation, because we have such confidence.
epilogue
It was originally a win-win deal, but it was forced into a political "game" by Norway, and the purpose behind it is self-evident, but if you are willing to be used as a "shield" by other countries, you will surely lift a stone and drop it on your own foot sooner or later.
As for NATO's groundless accusations against the mainland, it can only show that they do not know or care at all how much China advocates peace, because what they are thinking about is always their own right to speak in the international community, and this kind of behavior of "selling dog meat on the head of a sheep" is the biggest threat to peace and stability in the international community.
