preface
"The atomic bomb exploded...... Woo woo woo woo why, this should have been my job! On October 16, 1964, a mushroom cloud rose in Lop Nur, Xinjiang, and China's first atomic bomb was successfully exploded.
What's going on here? Who is this old man?
The father of Chinese radar
When it comes to the atomic bomb, we can think of Deng Jiaxian and the rich top three, but the protagonist we are going to talk about today has an inseparable relationship with scientific research.
His name is Shu Xingbei, known as the "father of China's radar", which is not small, but why do you feel sorry when you mention the atomic bomb, and why did he fall to the point of cleaning toilets?
Shu Xingbei was born in 1907, the "Kaisha Wang clan" Shu family in Jiangdu County, the Qing Dynasty has not yet perished this year, and the Qing Emperor has not abdicated.
Due to his good family background, he received a good education since he was a child, and in 1926, he went to United States to study at his own expense.
During his stay in the United States, Shu Xingbei visited famous universities and studied at the University of Cambridge and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1927, in order to broaden his horizons, Shu Xingbei traveled to Europe and came to the University of Berlin, where Einstein taught.
Einstein read Shu Xingbei's paper and admired his assertions very much, so he kept him by his side as an assistant, which was a dream trip for Shu Xingbei. It's just that after the rise of Nazism, Einstein was too busy to take care of himself, and Shu Xingbei had no choice but to leave.
Later, he went to the University of Edinburgh to study under Darwin, and under Darwin's guidance, he wrote the article "On the Foundations of Mathematical Physics", which caused a big splash in the academic community.
In September 1931, Shu Xingbei returned to China after completing his studies, and when he wanted to show his talents in the academic world, he changed his mind due to the 918 incident. He came to Nanjing to serve as a physics instructor at the Central Army Military Academy, but after serving for less than a year, he rebuked Chiang Kai-shek to his face and resigned from his professorship because he was dissatisfied with Chiang Kai-shek's "policy of non-resistance".
After resigning, Shu Xingbei came to Zhejiang University as an associate professor of physics, because the content of his lectures is not completely in accordance with the textbook, and the language is easy to understand, so his classes are always full, and even many students from other majors will come to him.
Shu Xingbei has also cultivated many talents, such as Nobel Prize winner Tsung-Dao Lee, Wu Chien-shiung, known as "China's Marie Curie", and Cheng Kaijia, winner of the "Two Bombs and One Star" Medal of Merit.
In 1944, Shu Xingbei was invited by the Nationalist Government to participate in the development of China's radar, and in the spring of 1945, China's first radar was successfully developed, and Shu Xingbei became the "father of China's radar".
The physics professor has been reduced to an old man cleaning toilets
Shu Xingbei, who is famous in the academic world, has a fatal flaw for him, that is, he is not tactful enough, and he does not handle it properly in terms of human feelings, which makes Shu Xingbei offend many people.
When he was teaching at Shandong University, he directly pointed out Professor Wang's mistakes in class, interrupted his class, and even said that Wang Zhuxi had not yet understood the essence of thermodynamics.
Because it was in class, he said this in front of many students, which made Professor Wang Zhuxi very faceless. In addition, Shu Xingbei also beat up the teaching director because of a dispute in the distribution of textbooks and equipment.
This kind of behavior is very inappropriate at any time, but Shu Xingbei's teaching performance is really good, so the school leaders only dare to be angry and dare not speak, and silently keep this matter in their hearts.
Shu Xingbei has been shining in the field of education all his life, but because of one of his wrong decisions, it led to the tragedy of the second half of his life.
In 1952, his friend Wang Ganchang asked him to work at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, but Shu Xingbei felt that people working in the Academy of Sciences wanted to engage in both science and politics, not pure, and they were not all the way to him, so he refused the job, and therefore made him lose the qualification to be "protected" in the subsequent catastrophe.
In 1955, Shu Xingbei was censored, and this censorship brought him a lot of harm, and he was also subjected to all kinds of insults and exclusions.
Shu Xingbei's love for the motherland and enthusiasm for scientific research did not win a little understanding for himself, and in 1958, because of unfair treatment, Shu Xingbei was sent to the Yuezikou Reservoir for labor reform.
Even so, Shu Xingbei still cares about the country, and wrote a letter to the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and the Party Committee of Shandong University, saying "don't close the research institute, don't give up continuing research". The work of the Yuezikou Reservoir was very hard, but Shu Xingbei gritted his teeth and persevered.
After the program, he did not succeed in returning to his daily life, but was transferred to Qingdao Medical College, where he continued to control labor. Days like this are even more miserable, because his main job here is: cleaning the toilets.
Once a high-spirited professor and physicist, now reduced to the point of cleaning the toilet, Shu Xingbei's heart gap is undoubtedly huge, but he understands that he can't change the environment at this time, so it's better to change his mentality.
He cleaned the toilet every day, and in his spare time, he did not forget to continue to study academics, and wrote several papers. Even though he enlightens himself every day, he still wants to participate in physics research.
Hurriedly buried
In August 1964, Shu Xingbei submitted a request to relevant organizations to study nuclear weapons, and said that he could assist the party and the state and mobilize overseas nuclear research experts to return to China. He made a professional analysis of nuclear weapons research, but what he did not expect was that two months later, the news of the successful development of the atomic bomb came.
After learning the news, Shu Xingbei was happy for the country's development of the atomic bomb, but at the same time, he was very sorry that he could not participate in it, and his complex emotions squeezed his heart, all of which turned into helpless crying: "This should be my job." ”
After so many hardships, Shu Xingbei is no longer as good as he was at the beginning, he speaks and does things as he wants, his personality has changed a lot, and the only thing that remains unchanged is his love for scientific research.
In 1974, Shu Xingbei successfully took off the hat of "counter-revolutionary" and "ultra-rightist", but it was not until 1979 that he was successfully rehabilitated and regained his identity as a scientific research worker.
Since then, Shu Xingbei has cultivated a large number of scientific research talents for the country and completed a number of research reports. However, because of the 20 years of ordeal, he suffered from chronic bronchitis and emphysema, but even with the support of oxygen bags and nebulized adrenaline, he is still training and teaching the students.
On October 30, 1983, Shu Xingbei completed his bumpy life at the age of 76. Until the last moment of his life, this old gentleman was contributing to the country, even if he died, his soul would not die.
He felt that although he was in his seventies, his brain was still the same as that of his twenties and thirties, so he took the initiative to donate his body in the hope of using it for medical research. However, at that time, the leadership team of Qingdao Medical College was undergoing a "big change", so they forgot Shu Xingbei's body aside.
By the time they remembered, half a year had passed, and Mr. Shu Xingbei's body had long since decomposed, could no longer be autopsied, and even lost the value of the specimen.
The school leaders saw that the body was no longer usable, so they asked the two students to send the body to the "Shelinzi" behind the medical school to be buried, but because they had to go there in a big circle, in order to save trouble, the two students took advantage of no one to pay attention and hastily buried Mr. Shu Xingbei's body under the parallel bars next to the school's basketball court.
epilogue
Mr. Shu Xingbei has been contributing to physics all his life and cultivating so many talents, but he didn't expect that because he was unjustly reformed for 20 years, he couldn't even treat his body well.
After his death, Mr. Shu Xingbei practiced this sentence with his life, and he contributed his life to the motherland and scientific research he loved.
