Italy's SaddyTech was the first to release the gaming performance test results of the Ryzen 9 9900X. 3D V-Cache is so strong that the Ryzen 9 9900X loses out to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D!
The Ryzen 9 9900X is based on the ZEN5 architecture and has 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock of 4.4GHz and a maximum boost clock of 5.6GHz. SaddyTech tested it against the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 3D V-Cache, using an X670 motherboard, DDR5-7200 memory, and an RTX 4090 graphics card.
The test included 10 games, which were compared across 3 resolutions, showing the performance gap between the Ryzen 9 9900X and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Despite the lack of gaming performance, the Ryzen 9 9900X does have a better power and temperature performance than the Ryzen 7000.
The ZEN5-based Ryzen 9 9900X has a more comprehensive overall performance, but its performance in games is slightly behind that of the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with its 3D V-Cache cache. However, it is said that the Ryzen 9000X3D with improved 3D V-Cache will be available in September, and the overclocking feature will be fully unlocked for the first time, at which point the Ryzen 7 7800X3D will be pulled off the throne.
