The early Western Zhou Dynasty bronze "Divine Face Plate" is one of the most well-known collections of the Poly Art Museum. When it first appeared in the 90s of the last century, it attracted wide attention around the world because of its mysterious and strange god face decoration.
The god mask has also had a bumpy circulation experience, and it has also been full of controversy. According to reports, the Divine Face Plate has disappeared since the invasion of the British and French forces, and it was not until the early 90s of the last century that it appeared overseas for the first time. As soon as it appeared, the Shenmian shocked the world's collecting circles with its unprecedented unique appearance, and became the object of purchase by collectors and museums from all over the world. A Japan museum ended up buying it at a sky-high price. However, the appearance of the god's face is too unique and has been questioned as a fake.
In order to confirm the authenticity, the seller of the Shenmian Diao contacted the University of Oxford in United Kingdom and some research institutions in the United States, tested it with thermoluminescence, drilled 6 holes in the top of the Shenmian Diao, and took samples for testing. Although the results confirmed that the piece was authentic from the Western Zhou Dynasty, in the face of rumors and man-made damage, collection institutions around the world did not dare to sell, and finally it was acquired by China Poly Group and collected in the Beijing Poly Art Museum.
