In the last years of the Sui Dynasty, the world's heroes rose together to rebel against the Sui Dynasty.
Among the anti-Sui forces in the world, Wagang is undoubtedly the most powerful force, not only occupying favorable terrain, but also hundreds of thousands of troops and many famous generals. Li Mi, the leader of Wagangzhai, is also a famous general, and he has been familiar with the art of war since he was a child.
Why did such a powerful force lose in the end? What is the ending of Li Mi?
After being born into a famous family
Li Mi's ancestors have three generations, all of whom are nobles with titles. In the battle for the founding of the Western Wei Dynasty, Li Mi's great-grandfather Li Bi made great contributions and was named one of the Eight Pillars of the Western Wei Dynasty, and was deeply valued in the Western Wei Dynasty.
Later, the Western Wei Dynasty was annexed by the Northern Zhou Dynasty, but Li Bi was still highly regarded in the Northern Zhou Dynasty, and was later appointed as the Taishi and named the Duke of Wei.
After this, Li Bi's son Li Yao was named the Duke of Xing Guo. Li Yao's son, Li Kuan, was named Duke of Pu and served as the Shangzhu State in the reign of Emperor Wen of Sui, Yang Jian, and was responsible for safeguarding the security of the capital.
When Yang Jian was still in power, Li Kuan unfortunately contracted an illness and died. His son, Li Mi, inherited the title of Duke of Puguo.
From a very young age, Li Mi was obsessed with the book of the art of war, so Li Mi was very good at giving advice.
Don't look at Li Mi's young age, but his ambitions are very ambitious, and he often takes it as his mission to save the people in the world.
In order to fulfill his ideals, Li Mi relied on his identity as Pu Guogong to recruit doormen, and did not hesitate to exhaust his family wealth for this.
Later, Li Mi felt that he was studying hard at home alone, and the effect was not very good, so he began to seek a famous teacher.
At this time, there was really a famous teacher in Chang'an City. Guozi's assistant teacher Bao Kai was in Chang'an City at this time, and this person was talented, so he was summoned by the emperor to the capital and became Guozi's assistant teacher.
Bao Kai's reputation is very great, and there are thousands of disciples under him. When Li Mi first came, he was just one of Bao Kai's thousands of disciples.
But when Li Mi was teaching in Bao Kai, he was in high spirits and focused, which was completely different from others.
With tireless study, Li Mi soon surpassed Bao Kai's disciples.
Li Mi thoroughly understood the "Historical Records" and "Book of Han" explained by Bao Kai, and also understood them well together with his favorite military books. He could even memorize the entire book of war.
Among Bao Kai's thousands of disciples, there are also some talented people, but none of them are comparable to Li Mi.
After the death of Emperor Wen of Sui, Li Mi held an official position in the court by virtue of his father's shadow. The official position is not big, just a guard in the palace of Emperor Yang of Sui.
Once when Emperor Yang of Sui was traveling, Li Mi stood in the honor guard beside him and was noticed by Emperor Yang of Sui. Later, after Emperor Yang of Sui returned to the palace, he asked Yuwenshu: "Who is the very dark young man in the honor guard?" ”
Yuwen Shu immediately reacted, Emperor Yang of Sui was talking about Li Mi. Then he replied, "That's the son of the late Pu Guo Gong Li Kuan, whose name is Li Mi." ”
Emperor Yang of Sui said that Li Mi was not a good person at first glance, and asked Yuwenshu to remove Li Mi from the honor guard. Yu Wenshu had no choice but to go to Li Mi and euphemistically explained the reason.
In fact, Li Mi never wanted to be this guard, and with this time as a guard, he wanted to read more books. So Li Mi happily resigned from his official position and began to concentrate on his studies.
Once Li Mi went out to consult Bao Kai, Li Mi specially rode a cow, put a lot of books on the cow, and read the books while walking.
On the way, Li Mi met Yang Su, the Duke of Yue, a fierce general of the Sui Dynasty, and the person he respected most on weekdays was a scholar.
Yang Su admired Li Mi very much after meeting him, and hurriedly asked Li Mi which family he was a scholar.
Yang Su didn't know Li Mi, but Li Mi knew the general. He hurriedly turned over and got off the cow, greeted Yang Su, and reported his name.
After Yang Su returned home, he said to his son Yang Xuangan: "Although you are the same age as Li Mi, you can't compare to him at all. You can go and befriend him. ”
Therefore, Yang Xuangan went to visit Li Mi many times, and the relationship between the two was very good. Later, Yang Xuangan was sent abroad, and Emperor Yang of Sui led troops to Goguryeo.
This was a good time to rebel, so Yang Xuangan sent people to bring Li Mi out of Chang'an overnight. Yang Xuangan asked Li Mi about the strategy of rebellion, and Li Mi gave three points: upper, middle, and lower.
But after Li Mi finished speaking, Yang Xuangan only agreed with the next policy, which also exposed Yang Xuangan's level. Later, Yang Xuangan appointed traitorous ministers, did not listen to Li Mi's advice, and was finally defeated and killed by the Sui army.
Devote yourself to Wagangzhai
Before Yang Xuangan was killed, Li Mi had already reminded him, but Yang Xuangan did not listen to Li Mi's strategy and was finally caught by the Sui army. And Li Mi knew that Yang Xuan was bound to lose, so he left the army one step earlier and thus survived.
But after Yang Xuangan was arrested, he confessed to Li Mi, and finally Li Mi was unfortunately arrested.
But Li Mi was not immediately executed. The generals decided to escort Li Mi and several others to Emperor Yang of Sui. On the way to escort Li Mi, Li Mi used a trick to confuse the guards and fled with the people.
After Li Mi fled, he came to the rebel Hao Xiaode's army. At that time, Hao Xiaode looked down on him, and Li Mi had no choice but to leave.
Li Mi, under the pseudonym Liu Zhiyuan, came to Huaiyang County, where he became incognito and became a teacher. While teaching, Li Mi accidentally wrote a poem about his own experience, which was passed on to Huaiyang Taishou by a child.
Taishou felt that this person must be unusual, so he wanted to arrest "Liu Zhiyuan", but Li Mi had to flee again.
After Li Mi fled, it was just in time for Zhai Rang to launch the Wagang Uprising, so Li Mi joined the Wagang Village.
There were people in Wagangzhai who used to be Yang Xuangan, and they recognized Li Mi, so they told Zhai Rang Li Mi's true identity. They wanted to kill Li Mi with the help of Zhai Rang. After Zhai Rang found out, he locked up Li Mi.
In order to save himself, Li Mi used Wang Bodang to offer advice to Zhai Rang and won Zhai Rang's trust.
Later, Zhai Rang asked Li Mi to persuade the small rebels around him to join Wagangzhai. As long as Li Mi goes, the rebel army will be allowed to come and take refuge.
Li Mi's outstanding performance made Zhai Rang very admired, and he was gradually reused by Zhai Rang.
At Li Mi's suggestion, the Wagang people attacked Xingyang, so they got a chance to recuperate. However, their actions also attracted reinforcements sent by Xingyang Taishou and the imperial court, Zhang Xutuo. The two of them were ordered to lead troops to exterminate the people of Wagang.
Zhai Rang had dealt with Zhang Xutuo before, and was taught a lesson by Zhang Xutuo, and he was afraid of him, so he wanted to run away immediately.
But Li Mi stopped Zhai Rang and asked Zhai Rang to act according to his own strategy, and he would definitely be able to defeat Zhang Xutuo. Zhai Rang believed Li Mi, and sure enough, he beat Zhang Xutuo away.
Li Mi's status in the Wagang army gradually improved, and later he suggested that the people of Wagang go to the granary. After the Wagang people broke through the granary, they summoned the people in the vicinity to receive the grain, and won the support of the surrounding people.
After this battle, Li Mi's reputation was unprecedented. Zhai Rang knew that he was inferior to Li Mi in all aspects, so he gave up the position of the leader of Wagang to Li Mi.
After Li Mi became the supreme leader, many people came to him. Hao Xiaode, the leader of the Plains Rebel Army, who looked down on him before, and Zhao Tuo, the Huaiyang Taishou who wanted to arrest him, all came to Li Mi.
The people of Zhai Rang's faction saw that Li Mi's power was getting bigger and bigger, and they couldn't sit still. Zhai Rang's brother Zhai Kuan said: "If you can't be the leader, let me be the leader, how can you give it to an outsider!" ”
These words reached Li Mi's ears, so Li Mi prepared to kill Zhai Rang and the people of Zhai Rang's lineage.
So, Li Mi took the opportunity of Zhai Rang coming to him for a drink, and made the first move to kill Zhai Rang and his brother. Then there was chaos in the army, even Xu Shiyun was slashed, and the generals hurriedly begged for mercy, and Li Mi ordered not to do it.
After that, Xu Shiyun, Shan Xiongxin, and Wang Bodang became the three major generals under Li Mi, responsible for commanding the soldiers and horses.
The end of Wagangzhai
Although this incident allowed Li Mi to obtain the supreme leadership, it also caused the military strength of Wagangzhai to drop a lot, and the morale of the army was shaken.
Soon after, Li Yuan raised troops in Jinyang and wrote a letter to ask Li Mi to vote. After all, they are all members of the Li family, and it is reasonable to do things together. But at this time, Li Mi was very complacent, relying on his own power, and in turn let Li Yuan come to himself.
Opposite Li Mi was the troops of Yang Tong, the grandson of Emperor Yang of Sui, and behind them were the troops of Yu Wenhua, and the situation was not very good. Yang Tong wants to borrow Li Mi's hand to get rid of Yu Wenhua, and Li Mi is also working hard not to be flanked.
Yang Tong sent a letter to Li Mi, asking Li Mi to take refuge in himself, and then sent troops to attack Yu Wenhua on his behalf, which was equivalent to signing a no-war treaty with Li Mi.
Li Mi agreed, and soon went out to attack Yu Wenhua. The two sides fought hard for many days, and Li Mi was shot by random arrows from the opposite side and almost lost his life. At this time, Wang Shichong, who had an old grudge against Li Mi, also began to target Li Mi, so Li Mi fell into a bitter battle.
At this time, Li Mi was not the same Li Mi as he was at the beginning, because of Li Mi's arrogance, the army in the Wagang Army was disheartened, and many generals took refuge in Wang Shichong.
In desperation, Li Mi could only go to Li Yuan and take refuge in the family he looked down on before. Li Yuan didn't look down on him, and he married his cousin to him.
But at this time, Li Mi was still arrogant and unwilling to do things under Li Yuan, and was finally killed by Li Yuan for "treason against the Tang Dynasty".
Li Mi's career as a horse has many remarkable points. But the long period of smooth sailing made Li Mi dizzy, he became proud and complacent, no longer concerned about the safety of the soldiers, and only thought about his own great achievements, so there was a lot of dissatisfaction in the army.
Especially after getting rid of Zhai Rang, he became more and more arrogant, so in the end, he ended up with a betrayal of his relatives and a defeat and death.
