A team of experts from the National Medical Center for Infectious Diseases
On August 1, Zhang Wenhong, a member of the team of the National Medical Center for Infectious Diseases, Ai Jingwen, associate professor of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Huashan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University, associate researcher of the National Center for Infectious Diseases, and a young Changjiang scholar, came to the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University (Xiangtan Central Hospital) for academic exchanges. During the exchange, the team visited the Institute of Life Sciences of Hunan University, the General Campus of the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University and the Public Health Clinical Medical Center of the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan University and held an exchange meeting.
The exchange meeting was presided over by Wu Mingxing, member of the Party Committee and vice president of the Central Hospital. Heads of relevant departments such as science and education, infection control, nursing, chronic disease management center, community service center, public health center and other relevant departments attended the meeting.

At present, the key research projects of the National Center for Infectious Diseases cover many frontier fields, such as the etiology of new infectious diseases, the research and development of rapid diagnostic technologies for infectious diseases, and the optimization of prevention and control strategies for infectious diseases.
At the exchange meeting, the two sides had a heated discussion on the development direction of the construction of the Department of Infectious Disease Science. Ai Jingwen pointed out that in the future, the research difficulties of infectious diseases will focus on the mutation tracking of pathogens, the precision treatment of complex infections, and the rapid response mechanism in global public health events, while the research hotspots include the application of immunotherapy in infectious diseases, artificial intelligence-assisted diagnosis and treatment, and the impact of environmental factors on the spread of infectious diseases.
After listening to the report of the central hospital, Ai Jingwen suggested that the discipline development of the hospital should adhere to both clinical and scientific research, and on the basis of doing a good job in the diagnosis and treatment of daily infectious diseases, conduct cohort studies for the infection of key groups and special populations, so as to provide a scientific basis for precise prevention and control. At the same time, the two sides also reached a preliminary intention on cooperative research, talent training, platform construction and other aspects.
This academic exchange activity will effectively promote the discipline construction of the hospital, greatly improve the scientific research ability, better serve patients, and lay a solid foundation for the realization of the strategic goal of "Healthy China". It is believed that with the joint efforts of both sides, more breakthroughs will be made in the field of infectious diseases and greater contributions will be made to ensure the health of the people.
