On August 5, Beijing time, in the Olympic badminton women's singles final, Chinese player He Bingjiao lost 0-2 (13-21, 16-21) to Korea's talented girl An Seying, and finally won an Olympic silver medal.

In the semifinals against Spain's Marin, the original big score was 0-1 behind, and the second game was also behind, and then Marin unexpectedly retired due to injury, He Bingjiao was a little lucky to get the opportunity to challenge An Xiying in the final, but it was a pity that she failed to challenge in the end.

Born in 1997, He Bingjiao is from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and her parents are both gymnastics coaches. She has been practicing gymnastics with her parents since she was a child, and her parents originally wanted her to pursue gymnastics. However, He Bingjiao is more interested in the badminton court next door to the gymnastics room.

He Bingjiao became famous earlier than Tokyo Olympic champion Chen Yufei. In 2014, He Bingjiao won the second place in the World Youth Championships, and then won the women's singles championship and the mixed doubles third place at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games, and was expected by many to become the successor of the Chinese badminton women's singles.

He Bingjiao's killing ball makes almost all players of the same age intimidating, the jump killing strength is very strong, the ball style is chic and the movements are smooth, and there is a kind of domineering on the court. However, later He Bingjiao exposed her shortcomings - physical fitness. Nicknamed "Little Fat", as the main member of the women's singles team in the two cycles of the Tokyo Olympics and the Paris Olympics, her style of play is a bit masculine, and her offense can often hit surprisingly good balls, but the continuity on the court has not been enough. For a while, whenever she reached the third game, her physical strength was difficult to support, so she has not been able to perform well consistently, and this shortcoming also limits her growth height.

She lost weight before and after the Tokyo Olympics, and this shortcoming has also been made up, and she can advance to the quarterfinals in this Olympics and eliminate teammate Chen Yufei, which is a good proof.

He Bingjiao comforted Ma Lin

Compared with the style of play on the field, He Bingjiao off the court is a young man with a delicate heart and a kind heart. Ma Lin, the opponent in the semifinals of the badminton women's singles at this Olympic Games, cried bitterly when she retired due to injury, and He Bingjiao, who was standing on the side, also had tears in her eyes.

"Some people asked me about Marin's withdrawal, and some people asked me about Zhang Beiwen's retirement from the last competition, and I didn't want to see that happen because they all played very well. Marin's desire to win today is something to learn from. Now you need to calm down and face the final. He Bingjiao's sincere and atmospheric response won the favor of many people, and He Bingjiao also demanded this from herself in life.

Outside of rigorous training and an intensive schedule, He Bingjiao has been learning English and reading books – including works by the ancient Greece philosopher Plato. In an interview, He Bingjiao responded that her interest in philosophy stems from her desire to be a better person, both on and off the court. She said that by studying philosophy, she can gain a deeper understanding of the world and the people around her, which allows her to learn to think critically and communicate more effectively.
