Follow, forward, like, take you to understand the latest digital product information! Nio's second brand, Onvo, recently announced an ambitious plan to complete the construction of more than 300 battery swap stations per month, ensuring that more than 1,000 battery swap stations will be available to Onvo owners by the end of the year. These battery swap stations will cover nine longitudinal and nine transverse highways, as well as 19 major cities. This program will enable Onvo owners to enjoy battery swapping and energy replenishment resources comparable to those of NIO owners.
In order to allow users to participate in this expansion plan, Onvo has also launched the "Onvo Battery Swap Wish List" campaign. During this event, users of the Onvo app can select three locations on the map where they would like the new battery swap station to be set up. The event will run until September 3, and the data collected will influence the layout of the battery swap station in the future.
Ai Tiecheng, CEO of Onvo, previously announced that the highly anticipated Onvo L60 will be officially released at the end of September. The SUV is Onvo's first model and is expected to roll off the assembly line at the end of the month, with deliveries and test drives starting on the day of the launch.
The Onvo L60 series will be based on a 900V silicon carbide platform with a battery rental model. The car will be equipped with 75kWh and 100kWh battery packs for daily commuting, while 150kWh battery packs will support long journeys with battery swapping. These battery packs have a range of 555 km, 730 km, and more than 1,000 km, respectively.
NIO has long realized that it is difficult to achieve market expansion with its own brand alone, so it has cooperated with GAC and Changan, but ultimately failed due to financial problems. Onvo is NIO's latest foray into the mass market. NIO CEO Li Bin has high hopes for Onvo's first car, the L60, which is compatible with NIO's fourth-generation battery swap station and improved third-generation battery swap station. Therefore, it can be speculated that Onvo's battery swap station will be based on NIO's fourth-generation battery swap station.
As of July 31, NIO had 820 highway battery swap stations in China, with a total of more than 49.6 million battery swap services, 44.11 million charging services, and 259,690 flexible battery upgrades.
Battery swapping is crucial for NIO, not only to quickly replenish energy, but also to avoid battery aging. The construction cost of each battery swap station is 3 million yuan, which adds to NIO's debt of 76.4 billion yuan. NIO needs to complete 60 battery swaps per day to break even. Despite this, 54.14% of NIO owners prefer to use battery swap stations. NIO's new brand, Firefly, will enter the European market, but it has also raised concerns about cost and complexity.
Overall, these bold plans and initiatives by Onvo demonstrate their determination and confidence in building a strong battery swap network in the EV market. Whether it's the expansion of the battery swap station or the launch of the first model, there is a lot of excitement about the future of Onvo. Let's wait and see how Onvo makes a new wave in the electric vehicle market!
