Recently, China-DPRK relations have aroused concern in the international community.
According to CCTV News, on August 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a press conference in accordance with the usual practice, during which some reporters raised questions to the mainland's foreign affairs department.
It is claimed that the DPRK held a commemorative event to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the Korean armistice at the end of July, and the ambassadors of many countries friendly to the DPRK, such as Russia, Cuba, Viet Nam, and other countries, attended one after another, but the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK was nowhere to be seen.
There has been a lot of discussion about this in the outside world, and some overseas media have even taken this as a bright spot for hype, spreading rumors claiming that there are problems in Sino-DPRK relations and that the DPRK is alienating China.
Not only that, but they also painstakingly dug up some "evidence", such as "North Korea downplays China's economic aid to them", "the North Korean side deliberately reduces the frequency of mentioning volunteers", and so on, in order to "prove" that there is a rift in the Sino-North Korean alliance and weaken the relationship between China and North Korea.
In the face of questions from the outside world, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian gave a clear answer.
He not only sternly refuted the so-called remarks that "the DPRK alienates China", saying that this is completely a false statement deliberately exaggerated by some countries and media, but also reiterated China's friendly stance on relations with the DPRK.
Lin Jian first affirmed the impact of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea 71 years ago on the relations between China and the DPRK, saying that in this war, China and the DPRK shared weal and woe and established an indestructible friendship with blood, and although the political and ecological environment of the two countries has undergone great changes over the past few decades, the Chinese Government's stance of attaching importance to friendship with the DPRK has never changed.
Take the matter of resisting US aggression and aiding Korea, which the foreign media are most concerned about.
July 27 of this year marks the 71st anniversary of the signing of the armistice agreement of the Korean War, and although the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK did not attend, it was two days earlier, that is, on July 25.
According to a report by Xinhuanet, the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK led diplomatic officials from the embassy, representatives of overseas Chinese, and some news media, accompanied by local DPRK departments, to the Yunsan Martyrs' Cemetery to pay respects to the martyrs of the volunteers who were buried in their homeland.
After laying flower baskets and bowing in silence, the Chinese ambassador to the DPRK listened to a briefing by a local DPRK official, who said that the DPRK side will not only repair and manage the cemetery, but also visit the graves of local people, schools, and institutions on major festivals to pay respects to them.
From the attitude towards the martyrs of the volunteers, we can see that the DPRK's relations with China have always been relatively friendly, and there has been a rift as some media have said.
For a long time, the Volunteer Army has been a bridge connecting China and North Korea, and a witness to the friendship between China and North Korea.
When the Korean War broke out in 1950, in the face of the DPRK government's urgent request for help, China sent hundreds of thousands of volunteers to the DPRK in the spirit of protecting its homeland and defending the country and in the humanitarian spirit of assisting fraternal countries, helping them to carry out the arduous War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
On July 27, 1953, after three years of bloody fighting, China, the United States and North Korea signed an armistice agreement.
During the Korean War, the U.S. military carried out endless wanton and indiscriminate bombing of North Korea, resulting in a large number of fertile fields, houses, railways, bridges, etc. being scorched and in ruins, and the entire North Korean economy and infrastructure were devastated.
In order to help the DPRK rebuild its homeland, in March 1954, the Volunteer Army Command issued a directive requiring all units in the DPRK to help the Korean people in construction and rehabilitation work.
Since then, in accordance with the arrangements of the DPRK government, the soldiers of the Chinese Volunteers have helped the DPRK rebuild houses, build bombed-out railways, roads and bridges, build farmland and water conservancy facilities, and build large reservoirs.
In addition to building the necessary production and living facilities, the volunteers also actively engaged in various dangerous tasks such as filling in bomb craters, clearing rubble, clearing mines and explosives, and so on.
According to publicly available information, during their eight years in the DPRK, the volunteers helped the DPRK build more than 40,000 civilian houses, more than 800 public places of various types, repair and rebuild more than 4,000 large and small bridges, more than 2,000 water canals, and transport more than 63,000 tons of grain.
Not only that, the Chinese volunteers handed over all the equipment except weapons and personal belongings to the DPRK free of charge before all the Chinese volunteers withdrew from the DPRK in 1958.
This spirit of selfless help and internationalism has not only been warmly praised by the Korean people, but has also deepened the deep friendship between the two peoples.
But what is less well known is that in addition to China's great help to North Korea, North Korea has also gone out of its way to help China.
Chairman Mao once said: "China's five-star red flag is stained with the blood of Korean martyrs", which refers to North Korea's help to the Communist Party of China during the War of Liberation.
Due to geographical location and historical reasons, North Korea also participated in the Northeast Liberation War.
In the autumn of 1948, at the time of the decisive battle between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, Li Fuchun, then deputy political commissar of the Northeast Field Army, came to North Korea and secretly met with the North Korean leader.
Li Fuchun came here to raise materials for the Northeast Field Army in the Northeast War, and second, to raise materials for the North China Field Army in the North China Battlefield.
At that time, the DPRK had just been liberated, and the country was poor and white, and everything was in ruins, but even under such circumstances, the senior leaders of the DPRK headed by Kim Il Sung and the DPRK people still gritted their teeth and provided a large amount of selfless material assistance to China.
In addition to supplies, the DPRK also provided international channels for the CCP throughout the Northeast Liberation War, helping us transfer materials and personnel, and maintaining contact with the outside world.
After China's victory in the revolution, it did not forget the help of the DPRK, and also sent troops to the DPRK under the pressure of poverty and whiteness to help them resist foreign aggression.
No matter how many years have passed, this kind of friendship between blood and fire has always been renewed, and it is beyond the comprehension and imagination of those Western countries.
As for the fact that some people have mentioned that the DPRK is deliberately downplaying China's help, etc., it is purely an over-interpretation, although the DPRK has made some adjustments in history education, and the overall preference is more towards its own independence, this does not mean that they have downplayed or even forgotten China's help.
To this day, there are still a series of commemorative activities for the volunteers in North Korea, and the current supreme leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un, has also visited the martyrs' cemeteries of the volunteers many times, which is unimaginable if it is placed in other countries.
As mentioned in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the so-called "alienation of the DPRK from China" is just a shadow hunt and self-righteousness by some Western countries.
