The old bridge will be demolished and the new bridge will be rebuilt in situ, and the entire project will be completed and opened to traffic on January 31, 2026.
The estuary bridge was built in the sixties of the last century and is an important bridge connecting the east and west of the Peng River in Xiaogan. Due to its long service life, in November 2021, the bridge was identified as a Class IV dangerous bridge. From January 16, 2022, the relevant departments of our city will take emergency measures to control the traffic of the bridge, set up dangerous bridge traffic restriction signs and width piers, and restrict the passage of trucks and passenger cars with more than 7 seats. In order to completely eliminate potential safety hazards, on August 8, the Municipal Transportation Bureau launched the reconstruction project of the dangerous bridge of the Hekou Bridge. During the construction period, motor vehicles, non-motorized vehicles and pedestrians can bypass the roads around the bridge, such as Fuxing South Road, S419 Shushui River Bridge, S419 or Aviation Road, and the southeast of the bridge faces the river embankment, and motor vehicles are prohibited from passing except for flood control vehicles.
After the demolition of the old bridge
A 488-meter-long one will be rebuilt on the original site
The new bridge is 38.5 meters wide
