Apple's FineWoven iPhone case has caused a negative reaction from consumers, and according to a frequent leaker, Apple is likely to replace the case with a new unnamed material, such as "plain leather."
Whistleblower Majin Bu took to social media to re-expose images of what is said to be a new phone case, which is the same color as the FineWoven phone case but with new materials. Black, blue, deep purple, green and taupe retain the colors of the previous FineWoven collection, with a new light grey version.
Bu claims that Apple will keep the same color tone on the iPhone 16 "leather" case.
The second image released by Majin Bu shows the packaging of the new phone case that they initially claimed. However, they later retracted the claim, admitting that the image was an image of a copycat phone case. It is said that the shell and packaging of the counterfeit from China are similar to the products that Apple will launch.
Over the past two years, Apple has promoted FineWoven micro-twill cases as an alternative to leather, which feel good in the hand but are easily scratched by fingernails, not resistant to dirt, and prone to getting stuck on the inside of pockets.
Majin Bu's record is right and wrong, but some of the revelations turned out to be accurate – for example, he had predicted that the camera of the 10th generation iPad would move to the long side.
Other reports, such as the claim that the iPhone 15 will come with two front-facing selfie cameras, have proven false.
