The incident occurred around 1 p.m. and Trump was playing golf at the Trump International Golf Club in the tourist resort of West Palm Beach. The scene was immediately cordoned off after the incident.
The investigation found that the gunman was hiding in the woods near the golf course, just 400 to 500 yards (365.76-457.2 meters) from Trump. The gunman also hung two backpacks on the fence and brought a GoPro camera, and fled the scene in a car after firing the gun. The man threw down his weapon and fled in an SUV before being detained in a neighboring county.
Investigators found an AK-47 rifle at the scene.
In response to Sunday's shooting, Trump's latest response was, "I was playing golf when the shot went off, I was fine, the Secret Service did a good job."
The United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) said the shooting was suspected to be an "assassination attempt" against Trump and that the department is investigating.

The suspect currently under arrest is named Ryan Routh, 58, from Hawaii.

While Trump was playing golf in Florida on Sunday afternoon, the gunman, Ryan Routh, declared on social media that "we can't afford to lose" in this year's election.
The man, who is from North Carolina, has a long criminal record, is a frequent writer of posts about politics and lashed out at Trump in an April 22 post on X.
