On September 17, the Thailand Council for Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation organized an event entitled "Awakening Thailand to Overcome the Crisis and Build a 100 Billion Baht PCB Economy" at a well-known hotel in Bangkok in the morning, aiming to point out the direction for the future development of printed circuit board (PCB) in Thailand.
During the period, Mr. Nali, Secretary General of the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), said that the printed circuit board manufacturing industry has continued to boom since last year, but most people still do not know much about it. At the same time, since last year, there have been many changes in climate and geopolitics around the world, and investors from all over the world have adjusted and turned to Southeast Asia, and Thailand is one of the best choices.
He further said that the investment in PCB exceeded 100 billion baht last year alone, and increased by about 4 million baht in the second half of 2024, and has reached 50 billion baht as of August. At the same time, PCB investment in Thailand has reached 200 billion baht since 2018 to 2024, but it has reached 150 billion baht from last year to this year alone. If all projects are fully opened, more than 20,000 or even 100,000 jobs will be created.
Not only that, the investment will also promote the domestic use of about 100 billion baht of raw materials per year, the export value of related projects will increase to 700 billion baht per year, and will promote Thailand to become the largest PCB producer in ASEAN, thus ranking among the top 5 in the world. Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Prachin, Samut Prakan, and Yong Tsai Sakhon are considered to be the 5 major PCB production areas in Thailand, while the rest are scattered in Chachoengsao, Rayong, and Chonburi.
