In the early morning of September 23, the 2024 Laver Cup entered its final matchday. The European team and the world team played the final game to determine the winner, thanks to Alcaraz's 6-2, 7-5 defeat of Fritz in the deciding game, the European team reversed the world team 13-11 and regained the Laver Cup title after two years.
On the first matchday, Tsitsipas and Dimitrov won two points from Europe, while Cerundolo and Fritz/Shelton won for the Worlds, and the two sides were tied 2-2 after matchday one.
Tiafoe, Fritz and Shelton/Tabilo won three games for the World on Matchday 2, with only Alcaraz winning one for Europe, who trailed the World 8-4 after the first two matchdays.
On matchday three, the doubles duo of Alcaraz and Ruud beat Sheldon/Tiafoe to take the lead with three points. Medvedev then lost to Sheldon, and an 11-7 victory for the World Team was in sight. After that, Zverev narrowly beat Tiafoe, and Alcaraz beat Fritz in straight sets, and the European team won six points in a row to achieve a comeback 13-11.
