The Jeep Gladiator received a facelift last year, so the 2025 model won't change much. For fans of manual transmissions, though, the 2025 model is conspicuously lacking in manual transmissions. The six-speed manual transmission was officially discontinued in all classes, and the company's eight-speed automatic became the only transmission option.
A Jeep spokesperson made the following statement regarding the decision: "The 2025 Jeep Gladiator will be exclusively equipped with a high-tech eight-speed automatic transmission to maximize the best-in-class V-6 traction and payload capacity demanded by our midsize pickup customers. This configuration is the choice of most gladiator owners today and best matches what customers tell us about their specific abilities and expectations for open-top Jeep pickups. The iconic flagship Jeep Wrangler will continue to offer manual transmissions as part of its more than 80-year tradition, as well as Jeep-branded customers who appreciate manual transmissions. ”
Another notable update for the 2025 Gladiator involves power windows and door locks, which are now standard. Technically, these common features were previously standard on all models of the Gladiator, with the exception of one model – the entry-level Sport. Now, even the most basic entry-level models are equipped with windows and door locks that can be operated at the touch of a button.
As a result, the starting price of the 2025 Gladiator has become higher. But considering the variations, the price is quite reasonable. The 2025 Gladiator Sport starts at $39,995, up $205. This includes Jeep's $1,895 shipping fee, which is the same as last year. The price of the Gladiator's top-of-the-line models, the Mojave and Rubicon, actually dropped by almost $2,000. Compared to Mojave X and Rubicon X, the difference is more than $4000. The price breakdown of all models of the 2025 Gladiator is as follows, which already includes the shipping fee.
Other changes to the 2025 model include two new exterior colors: Fathom Blue and '41, the latter of which is a green inspired by olive-brown military vehicles. Owners can also pre-adjust the Gladiator's cabin using the available active cabin ventilation feature via the Jeep Connect mobile app.
We're still waiting for news from the Gladiator 4 4WD plug-in hybrid. Jeep says the car will be officially unveiled sometime in 2025, at which point we'd assume it will be powered by the same powertrain as the Wrangler all-wheel drive. As a reminder, it consists of a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a total of 375 horsepower.
With the demise of the Gladiator manual transmission car, the only pickup truck in the United States with a manual transmission was the Toyota Tacoma.
