Qiu Haibo has been the vice president of the Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University since January 2010, and the deputy secretary of the Party Committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University in August 2019. Since June 2021, he has been the Vice President of Southeast University.
Qiu Haibo has participated in the rescue of many major public health emergencies such as the SARS epidemic in 2003, the epidemic of swine streptococcal disease in Sichuan Province in 2005, the epidemic of hand-foot-and-mouth disease in 2008, and the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, and has served as the leader of the national medical expert group for many times, making important contributions to the treatment of seriously ill patients. The "multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment model under the support of information platform for early identification of severely ill patients, centralized-hierarchical management, and information platform support" summarized, proposed and practiced in the medical treatment of public health emergencies and natural disasters has played an important role in the treatment of large-scale public health emergencies of COVID-19, and greatly reduced the case fatality rate of severely ill patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia.
