Bouldering can hurt the sand, and Qian qiuyu is wandering on his own. Xi Wen is worried about the world, and mo is a national martyr when he mourns. - Liu Yazi, "Gifting Wen Huaisha"
Wen Huaisha, born in Beijing in 1910, is a controversial master of sinology, known as "Contemporary Chinese Qu Yuan", "the first person to study Chu Ci in New China", etc., and has also been interviewed by CCTV's "People" column and has published two documentaries. His representative works include the Qu Yuan Jinxuan series and the Four Civilizations.
Figure 1
From the revered master of sinology to the questioned "clown", the incident began in a 2009 article written by Beijing journalist Li Hui, "Unveiling the Secret: The Absurd Life of Wen Huaisha's True Age "Guoxue Master"" "The Mystery".
The article questioned Wen Huaisha on three points: first, he lied about his age in order to give himself the title of a famous master's disciple; second, he was imprisoned not for political reasons, but because he had committed hooliganism; third, his works were patchwork, and he did not have real talent and practical learning. So, is Wen Huaisha a true master of traditional Chinese studies, or a jumping beam clown who sells fame and reputation?
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="4" > age fraud, perhaps for another reason! </h1>
Regarding age, Wen Huaisha has said on many occasions that he was born in 1910, while Li Hui believes that Wen Huaisha was born in 1921, so he is not a "centenarian" who is good at health and can spread the secret of longevity. In this way, Wen Huaisha's disciple Zhang Taiyan could not be established as soon as he said it, and many titles could not be said to be true.
Figure 2
However, the scholar Chen Mingyuan confirmed that Wen Huaisha's real birth year was 1910, and gave the reason based on personal experience.
There are two reasons: First, Teacher Bian Zhilin has said to Chen Mingyuan many times: "Wen Huaisha is the same year as me. Bian Zhilin was born in 1910. Second, the famous playwright Wu Zuguang once revealed that he was a few years younger than Wen Huaisha, and Wu Zuguang was born in 1917, so Wen Huaisha should have been born before 1917.
In addition, Aidan, the son of Ai Qing (1910), said that his father once said: "Wen Huaisha is the same age as me. Ji Cheng, the son of Ji Xianlin (1911), asked Ji Lao about Wen Huaisha's age after an interview about the Wen Huaisha controversy, and Ji Lao also said that Wen Huaisha was almost the same age difference as his shoulders and shoulders.
Figure 3
As for Wen Huaisha rewriting his birth year when he was working in the theater, on the one hand, due to the relaxed age censorship environment in the early days of the founding of New China, on the other hand, because Wen Huaisha wanted to be more suitable for his wife in age, Wen Huaisha's son Vince said. In 1980, Wen Huaisha was freed from a wanted list by the Kuomintang authorities before changing his birth year back to 1910.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="10" > was arrested for hooliganism, and Wen Huaisha's response was vague </h1>
Regarding his arrest, Wen Huaisha bluntly said that it was due to political reasons during the turbulent period, while Li Hui believed that Wen Huaisha had been sentenced to re-education through labor in 1963, not for political reasons, but for "hooliganism", the details of which were impersonating cultural advisers and molesting women. It was not until 1980 that Wen Huaisha ended his re-education through labor, and the case that led him to prison was never rehabilitated.
After Li Hui's article was published in 2009, many people expected Wen Huaisha's response, but Wen Huaisha, his family and disciples said they would "collect evidence before responding." His assistant responded, "The cleaner cleans himself, and the turbid one self-turbid." In this regard, Wen Huaisha also said: "I have offended that reporter. ”
Figure 4
Since the outbreak of the controversy, Wen Huaisha has not responded positively, and the response suspected of being through Cui Zimo's article is also somewhat vague, saying only: "It was a chaotic era." Attending the "Yani Interview", he only mentioned this controversy for the first time in the interview, and said that he did not want to pay attention to Li Hui's questioning. In response to reporters' questions, he replied: "Who didn't make mistakes when they were young?" "I'm not a saint, so I don't want to answer that question."
Such vague or rejecting answers have been more intensely questioned by people, and many people have believed that Li Hui's doubts are real.
In addition, some of Wen Huaisha's remarks and actions seem to have become evidence of his affair. He has experienced 5 marriages in his life and once proposed that the secret of longevity is to "make friends with the opposite sex." In front of the media, he did not seem to be shy, claiming that he liked young women and behaved intimately with many women in front of the media.
Figure 5
As Wen Huaisha said, "Know me, sin against me, there are books to prove it, Wuzu Dao?" "Any conclusive evaluation of a person must be based on facts, not without basis. Therefore, we should not label Wen Huaisha as a "hooligan" according to our own subjective conjecture.
However, according to the relevant interviews of the media, we can see that Mr. Wen Huaisha does have inappropriate remarks and behavior, which may be related to his humorous and uninhibited personality.
<h1 class="pgc-h-arrow-right" data-track="18" > works pieced together, and the controversy never stops </h1>
Wen Huaisha's main achievement was the study of chu ci, and he became famous for the publication of the book "Chu Ci", known as the "master of traditional Chinese studies", and was also questioned because of his fame. Li Hui believes that his academic monographs cannot be found in the library, and the "master of traditional Chinese studies" is just a figment.
Figure 6
Since 2009, there has been a controversy over Wen Huaisha's scholarship, mainly in the following two views:
One side believes that Wen Huaisha's title of "Master of Traditional Chinese Studies" is not self-proclaimed, which can be expressed in his relationship with people and discussion of learning. Ai Qing's son Aidan said that in his early years, Mr. Wen Huaisha chatted with Ai Qing, they talked about poetry, calligraphy and painting, and Wen Huaisha even often sang Chu Ci. Zhang Xianliang, Chen Kaimin, and others also greatly respected Wen Huaisha's learning. To a certain extent, this shows that Wen Huaisha is academically successful, but this does not mean that Wen Huaisha did not piece together his works.
The other side believes that Wen Huaisha's title of "Master of Traditional Chinese Studies" comes from the needs of "cultural jianghu" and can also be said to have been artificially praised, so he has doubts about his own literary level. Many of his works also do not stand up to scrutiny, and there are many obvious errors and loopholes in the Chu Ci that has made him famous and rich. Some anonymous people broke the news that the "Four Civilizations" was also pieced together by scanning and copying some ancient books, and even without any editing or verification.
Figure 7
The argument between the two sides is deadlocked, mainly because neither side has enough evidence. The authenticity of other people's testimonial remarks has yet to be examined, and the anonymous people's revelations are not to mention true or false. Although Wen Huaisha's works cannot explain his true literary level, they still made a certain contribution to Chinese culture, after all, the "Four Civilizations" is a comprehensive compilation of pre-Qin to Sui and Tang literature.
Wen Huaisha once wrote a poem to satirize himself: "What a real dog to paint a tiger, the empty head is actually a fake Sven." Maybe he may not be willing to accept the title of "Master of Traditional Chinese Studies"?
epilogue:
Whether Wen Huaisha is an age fraud or a patchwork of works, we cannot give a conclusive conclusion. However, he did not have no talent and contribution, and many of his works, calligraphy and painting works still played a certain role in the development of society and culture. Moreover, his era is indeed more emotionally chaotic, and we still have to look at the problem objectively and dialectically on the basis of history, and we cannot only listen to the words of one family.
Figure 8
In 2018, Mr. Wen Huaisha passed away with controversy. I just don't know if he will think when he is idle once in a while: If he is not famous, it would be good...
