Nandu News Reporter Liang Yanyan Correspondent Xie Jiajie A few days ago, in the 2021 World Robot Competition sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China and the China Association for Science and Technology, the students of Guangdong Experimental Middle School (hereinafter referred to as "Provincial Reality") won the first place in the vex-EDR competition through multiple rounds of competitions, with the first place in the field confrontation and the first place in the defense, and won the highest award in the high school group competition of this competition - the all-round award.

On August 18 this year, after learning that the competition was restarted, the students of the Provincial Engineering Science and Technology Competition Group responded quickly and used the time left in the holiday to seize the training. Under the leadership of the veteran team members, the students of the competition group made a number of design plans and repeated debugging, and invited multiple teams to conduct multiple simulated confrontations and formulated multiple sets of combat strategies. After high-quality and high-intensity training, the participants basically mastered the key technical points and methods of this competition.

In the field, the provincial students worked together, pooled their wisdom and efforts, played the level of competition, and ranked first in the ranking competition with a good result of total victory. In the knockout round, the provincial students faced a strong opponent, competed out of the status and characteristics, and finally won the highest honor of all the participating teams.

"Learning about robots can exercise many abilities, including robot building ability, the ability to use subject knowledge such as physics and information technology, and the ability to program." Wu Yutong, a participating student, told reporters, "Like the students who participated in the innovation and entrepreneurship competition, we further stimulated our interest through the school's school curriculum, and we came together to use our spare time and holidays to learn and create." ”

"Looking back on the schedule, it is full of surprises and regrets." Zhang Qihan, a student, said that he was a freshman who had just arrived in the province and could represent the school in this important competition, which was a new and exciting experience. "On the field, we all worked hard to fulfill our duties conscientiously, thinking together and communicating to solve new challenges that constantly emerged; we not only improved the machine structure ourselves, but also rewrote and improved the automatic program on the spot after facing the performance analysis of the different structures of the opponent's machine, which impressed the other teams."

It is understood that the World Robot Competition has been successfully held for 6 sessions since 2015, attracting more than 150,000 players from more than 20 countries around the world to participate, and has been widely praised by major mainstream media as the "Olympics" of the robot industry, and is currently an official professional event in the field of robots with wide influence at home and abroad. Through years of accumulation and growth, the competition has formed a new competition format composed of the selection competition (WRCT) and the final (WRCC), and around the three major competition directions of scientific research, skills and science, there are four major competitions: the Inclusive Robot Challenge, the BCI Brain Control Robot Competition, the Robot Application Competition, and the Youth Robot Design Competition.
