There is a character in the movie "The Destruction of the Empire", who has been dressed in cross-dressing, has a kind and calm face, seems to be closely related to Hitler, and later followed Wilhelm Munch to break through from the bunker, and after hearing the news of the surrender of Germany, he raised a gun to commit suicide. The background of this person is not introduced in the film, many viewers do not know the details of him, his name is Heville, a German diplomat, as for his relationship with Hitler, it can be summed up in one sentence: he is Hitler's iron brother.
Born in Cologne in January 1904, Walter Hever was one of the first to join the Nazis, and when he was in high school, he became a member of the Nazi Party who was still a small civil society, he was the first recruited by Hitler after he became a member of the Nazi Committee, Hitler was the 96th member of the party, and Heville was the 200th, considering Hitler's earliest and most determined supporter.
In 1923, Heville studied at the Technical University of Munich, and in November of the same year he participated in the Beer Hall Riot, and after the failure he was imprisoned with Hitler, where he became Hitler's personal attendant and took care of Hitler's life for several months, and he and Hitler became a buddy relationship.
After he was released from prison, he found a job at a British company and was sent to Indonesia to work in the management and sales of coffee cultivation. Despite his imprisonment, Heville's beliefs in the Nazis did not change in the slightest, and during his time in Indonesia, he widely propagated Nazi ideas among the German diaspora, developed Nazi organizations, and by 1937, the German diaspora in Indonesia had established Nazi branches in Bandung, Surabaya, Padang, Medan and many other places.
In 1938, Hitler recruited Hever back to Germany, appointed him a diplomat, spent some time in Spain, and later served as Personal Assistant to Foreign Minister Ribbentrop and liaison with Hitler. Although Hevere was close to Hitler and became a member of Hitler's small circle, it is strange that he did not seem to have a clear official position throughout World War II, and he once self-deprecatingly called himself "ambassador without a place to go". It may be understood that Hevere was only an idle post in the Foreign Office, and he has been involved in Hitler's small circle in a semi-public and semi-private capacity, especially in the late World War II, as Hitler and Ribbentrop were estranged, Hövel became Hitler's senior adviser in foreign affairs policy and became a member of Hitler's core group. According to Madame Jung, Heverl was also responsible for handling some of Hitler's family affairs and coordinating the various relations between Hitler's staff, and not many people could achieve this level of personal friendship with Hitler, perhaps only Heville and Speer.
Almost everyone who came into contact with Hever praised him as an amiable man who usually handled things that Hitler was not good at dealing with, and General Guderian said he was "a good conversation partner and listener." But Hever was shy in front of women, so personal problems were always difficult problems, and Hitler often tried to match him, but never succeeded.
Hitler himself did not succeed in being a red bride for Heville, but Heville accidentally got his daughter-in-law because of an accident, which was a terrible air disaster. On 20 April 1944, Hitler's 55th birthday, at a celebratory cocktail party on this day, he awarded Hans Valentine Hube the Order of the Order of the Knight of the Diamond Double Sword and Oak Leaves, and was promoted to the rank of Grand General, who expected that on the same night, the one-armed general was in an air crash on the plane back to Berlin, and Hubey died on the spot, and Heville was also traveling on the plane, but he survived. It is often said that there will be a blessing in the face of great difficulty and immortality, and this statement was really verified in Heville. Seriously injured, Heville was admitted to the hospital, where he had a long relationship with Elizabeth Margaret Ludwig, a Red Cross nurse who took care of him, and the two married in July 1944, and when he committed suicide the following year, his wife bore him a son.
Until April 30, 1945, Hever remained with Hitler, the last person to have a private long talk with Hitler. After Hitler committed suicide, he escaped from the bunker with William Munch's group, and when they arrived at the brewery on 2 May, Hever revealed his intention to commit suicide, with whom Dr. Schenck had a brief conversation in which he was dissuaded from giving up the idea of suicide. According to Schenck, Hever told him that Hitler had told Hever that if he was captured by the Soviets, he would be severely tortured and "made into a wax figure", and Hitler personally gave Hever potassium cyanide capsules and a pistol, making Hevere swear that he would not be a prisoner.
Upon learning of the surrender of the Berlin defenders, Hevere bit through the potassium cyanide capsule and fired a shot at himself in the head, becoming Hitler's martyr.
Before his death, he spoke to Dr. Schenck about his final views on Hitler: "Hitler was a wonderful actor, not so much the Führer as he was an out-of-touch man, and when I look back on those long speeches, I realize that Hitler has fallen into the illusion of his grand mission, and when this illusion disintegrates, it becomes self-pity and makes him lose his courage."
