The Surging News reporter Yang Yang
At the recently held 2021 SNEC JinkoSolar Media Salon, JinkoSolar Chief Technology Officer Jin Hao shared the company's latest technology route reserves.
In response to the dispute over the technical route of photovoltaic cells, Jin Hao responded to the surging news and other media that Jinko has clearly selected N-type TOPCon as the mainstream technology direction of next-generation product research and development, and the follow-up battery conversion efficiency target will be expanded to 25% and 26%, "Is IT TOPCon or heterojunction (HIT/HJT)?" The potential and performance of the two in terms of battery efficiency are very similar, but in terms of cost investment and application scale, in terms of reliability and compatibility, we believe that TOPCon has greater potential, or more feasibility. ”
As the current mainstream PERC battery technology continues to approach the "ceiling" of efficiency conversion, TOPCon and heterojunction are considered to be the next generation of battery technology with the most potential to succeed PERC, and major photovoltaic companies have already started the layout.
According to the Roadmap for the Development of China's Photovoltaic Industry (2020 Edition) written by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association and the Integrated Circuit Research Institute of CCID Think Tank, last year, the newly built mass production line was still dominated by PERC cell production lines, and the market share of PERC cells increased to 86.4%. In the future, with the reduction of production costs and the improvement of yield, N-type batteries will be one of the main development directions of battery technology. In 2020, N-type batteries (mainly including heterojunction batteries and TOPCon batteries) have relatively high costs, and the scale of mass production is still small, accounting for about 3.5% of the market, a slight increase over 2019.
"Is the next generation of technology heterojunctions or TOPCon?" This has become a hot topic that must be discussed at the photovoltaic industry conference. At this year's SNEC exhibition, more and more manufacturers also exhibited N-type products, mainly focusing on topCon and heterojunction two technical routes.
Jin Hao believes that by next year or the year after, the cost of TOPCon batteries will be lower than the cost of PERC batteries, "and heterojunction, whether in terms of investment or power supply costs, will take a long time to approach PERC." ”
According to its introduction, Jinko's TOPCon technology has a GW-level mass production layout, with a conversion efficiency of 24.5% and a bifacial rate of up to 85%. In May this year, Jinko's TOPCon cell efficiency reached 25.25%, setting a world record for the efficiency of large-area N-type single crystal passivation contact batteries.
Jin Hao revealed that the yield of Jinko TOPCon's actual mass production is very close to that of conventional products, and the cost advantage of mass production is obvious. JinkoSolar has launched TOPCon products for some markets and is currently full of orders.
At this year's SNEC show, JinkoSolar also released a number of new products, including the new Tiger Pro series of 415W high-efficiency photovoltaic modules, Jinko's BIPV series and Jinko's new intelligent optical storage system. Among them, the Tiger Pro series 415W high-efficiency photovoltaic modules have a maximum power of 415Wp and a maximum efficiency of 21.3%; in the field of BIPV at the outlet, Jinko has launched JinkoBIPV color curtain wall products for architectural glass exterior walls, as well as JinkoBIPV color steel tile products for industrial new or renovated building roofs; with the continuous increase in photovoltaic energy penetration, photovoltaic consumption problems have attracted much attention, and energy storage systems have achieved stable and smooth output. Recognized by the industry as an important part of the future new energy market, JinkoSolar has introduced higher integration and higher efficiency of residential, commercial and large-scale ground power station optical storage systems.
By the end of 2020, JinkoSolar's global cumulative shipments exceeded 70GW, with a global market share of 14.3%, breaking the world record 16 times, and having a module production capacity of 37GW. Last year, 8 of the top 10 module installation markets in the world ranked first in Jinko.
