The EU-China Agreement on Geographical Indications is the first comprehensive and high-level agreement on geographical indications signed by China to foreign investors. The entry into force of the agreement will further strengthen China-EU economic and trade cooperation and benefit consumers and enterprises on both sides. The Appendix to the Agreement includes a total of more than 500 geographical indication products from both sides, all of which are well-known geographical indications of both sides. For example, China's Shaoxing wine, Liu'an gua slices, Anxi Tieguanyin, Turpan raisins; European champagne, Bavarian beer and so on. The geographical indications protected by the two sides in the agreement can not only obtain a high level of protection for each other, but also use the official indications of the other party's geographical indications, which is conducive to the effective development of the market for related products. The protection will be carried out in two batches, the first batch of about 100 geographical indications recognized by the two sides will begin to be protected on the date of entry into force of the agreement, and the white yak will be on the list.

The entry into force of the China-EU Geographical Indications Agreement provides intellectual property protection for Tianzhu white yak to enter the European Union, provides a treaty guarantee for the white yak series of products to enter the European market, and will also make it easier for Europeans to purchase authentic white yak products that are "only Tianzhu has". Up to now, the number of white yaks in Tianzhu County has reached 80,000 heads, and the average number of farmers has increased by 44,500 yuan.
