Zhang Yuzhe discovered asteroid 1125 through observation, named "China", which was the first asteroid discovered by Chinese, Zhang Yuzhe also became the first Chinese to discover a new asteroid, and he also published China's first paper on the orbit of artificial satellites. On February 16, 1902, Zhang Yuzhe was born in Minhou County, Fujian Province, to a poor family, but he studied very hard and achieved excellent results. In 1919, Zhang Yuzhe was admitted to the Tsinghua Preparatory Class for Studying in the United States. In 1923, Zhang Yuzhe went to the United States to study, and successively studied in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Purdue University and the Department of Architecture of Cornell University. In 1925, Zhang Yuzhe transferred to the Department of Astronomy at the University of Chicago, where he received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in astronomy. During his work at the school's Yekes Observatory, asteroid 1125 was observed and named "Zhonghua", the first asteroid Chinese discovered.

In the autumn of 1929, Zhang Yuzhe returned to China and was hired as a professor in the Department of Physics of Nanjing Central University, teaching courses such as astronomy, astrophysics and astrophysics, and was also hired as a communication researcher by the Institute of Astronomy of academia Sinica. In 1934, China's first modern observatory, the Purple Mountain Observatory, was built, and Zhang Yuzhe was hired as a special researcher by the Institute of Astronomy of academia sinica. In 1941, Zhang Yuzhe organized the shooting of the first photo of a total solar eclipse in China; in 1955, he was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, joined the Jiusan Society in 1956, and died in Nanjing on July 21, 1986.
