It is a rather autobiographical children's novel, in which the writer accurately "imitates" the tone of a five-year-old boy, recording a warm and sad slice of life.

Five-year-old Zeze is smart and precocious, this naturally sensitive boy, likes American Western movies, likes to sing, always rehearses the unsatisfactory and wronged in his life in his "fantasy world", he even found a "sweet orange tree that can talk", and whenever he is punished, he goes to talk to the sweet orange tree...

Until one day, he discovered "his favorite person in the world" - Old Portuguese.

Old Portuguese replaced the "little sweet orange tree" and became the object of his most missed conversation.

He found that he could also feel tenderness and love in real life, but the bad news suddenly came: first he had to cut down the small sweet orange tree because of road construction, and then the old Portuguese suddenly suffered a car accident.

The love of that fantasy world, that love of real life, all suddenly left him.
