Smash out a trilobite!
What is a trilobite?
Trilobites are arthropods that lived in the oceans between the Cambrian and Permian periods, survived on Earth for more than 320 million years, and were completely extinct about 250 million years ago, and can only be understood through fossils.
Trilobites belong to the trilobites in the phylum arthropods, juxtaposed with insects, so trilobites, like spiders (arachnids) and the like, do not belong to insects. Some museums call trilobites insects in briefs on trilobites fossils, which is actually wrong.
The trilobite is derived from its name
The body of the trilobite is divided into three parts: head, thorax and tail, and the middle of its dorsal carapace is raised as axial lobes, and the sides are ribbed lobes, which have obvious trichotomy.
What are the forms of trilobites?
Trilobites are rich in species, including 10 orders, more than 150 families, about 5,000 genera, and at present, more than 20,000 species have been described, and new species are often reported.

Where can I find trilobite fossils?
Trilobites have a long life course, the entire Paleozoic, from the Cambrian to the Permian has a fossil record, spanning more than 300 million years, is a biological group with the longest life course; trilobites have a rich fossil record, which can be found in Paleozoic strata around the world.
Trilobites also have a long history of research, since the 18th century, people have begun to study trilobites since the beginning of the understanding of paleontology.
Why are trilobites easy to preserve as fossils?
Trilobites have a harder exoskeleton, which is easier to preserve as a fossil and become a window for people to understand the ancient ocean.
There are many fossils of trilobites, not simply because it has external bones, but because the trilobites have to constantly shell off, and the external bones bind its growth, so it has to constantly take off its coat.
These shells have been preserved in large quantities into fossils, so although there are many trilobites fossils, intact individuals are not easy to find. For the average enthusiast, the common trilobite fossil may be just fragments.
How to identify the fragments of trilobites?
The most common trilobites are the caudal carapace, cephalic carapace, cheek spines, thoracic segments, etc.
Trilobites generally have a beautiful and regular appearance, often with regular spiny protrusions due to their multibody segment composition. For example, the tail carapace of the butterfly worm resembles a butterfly, and the tail carapace of the bat worm resembles a bat, and the name of these trilobites comes from its tail beetle form.
The head carapace of the trilobite is composed of a head saddle and a cheek, and the head saddle is usually blunt and rounded (some are diverse, decorated with tumors, thorns, etc.), and the cheek spines often fall off, and are sometimes mistaken for scorpion fossils by enthusiasts who do not understand fossils.
The thorax of trilobites is often stored messily, but the trichotomy from the middle to the sides is still more obvious, with a raised shaft in the middle, and the sides are often spine-like.
What trilobite fossils are mainly produced in China?
Sichuan insect, mainly produced in the lower Ordovician dark gray limestone, argillary limestone and brownish yellow marl in western Hunan Province.
Crown worm, head carapace triangle, with three hemispherical protrusions arranged in the shape of "pin", all over the coarse tumor, the main production of southern Sichuan, northern Qianbei, western Hubei, southern Anhui, the era belongs to the Zhongzhi Liushi.
Communication worm, the body of the insect is high, broad-ovate, mainly produced in Guangxi Nandan, the era is the early Middle Devonian.
