Chinese scientists reproduce in vitro the movement of the embryonic prosthesis of non-human primates

Early embryonic development is related to the origin of life, which has always been a hot spot and difficult point in biological research. Prointestinal motility is the most critical stage of early embryonic development, and abnormalities in early embryonic development and prointestinal motility often lead to major diseases such as pregnancy failure and postnatal organ defects. Over the years, due to ethical and research techniques, primate embryonic prointestinal motility has been very limited, and the degree of dependence of primate embryonic development on the mother after implantation is still unclear.

Using the in vitro culture system of non-human primate embryos established for many years, Chinese scientists have cultured the cystic monkey blastocysts in vitro to the appearance of prosthetic motility, and further developed to 20 days after fertilization, providing sufficient evidence from multiple angles such as morphology, labeled molecular staining and single-cell transcriptome to prove that the in vitro development of cynomolgus monkey embryos highly reproduces embryonic development in vivo, including multiple important events including prosthetic motility; for the first time, the gene expression characteristics of amniotic cells in the early embryonic development of primates are provided. And redefined a variety of primate early embryonic cell types.

The study provides a new research platform for exploring the early embryonic development and prointestinal motility of primates, and provides potential new tools for clinical drug development and regenerative medicine development of major diseases such as abnormal early embryonic development in humans.
