Prehistoric primates also loved sweets

author:Bright Net

Love of sweets is not the "patent" of modern people, and prehistoric primates also love this bite. A paleontological study published on the 10th by Science Reports, a subsidiary of Nature Research, shows that the oral fossils of prehistoric primates, a species called "Microsyops latidens", provide the earliest known evidence for mammalian caries, which can be traced back to the Early Eocene (about 54 million years ago), and these caries may be caused by fruit-rich diets or other high-sugar foods. Combined with historical changes in the incidence of caries, primate diets have fluctuated between foods with higher and lower sugar content.
