Beijing News Express According to the WeChat public account of the Jiangsu Provincial Higher People's Court, on July 30, the Nantong Intermediate People's Court publicly pronounced a verdict on the bribery case of Wang Jianhua, the former party secretary of the Bank of Jiangsu, and sentenced the defendant Wang Jianhua to 13 years' imprisonment and a fine of 2.5 million yuan for accepting bribes. The property and fruits obtained from bribery shall be recovered and handed over to the State Treasury.
After trial, it was ascertained that from 1988 to 2017, defendant Wang Jianhua took advantage of his position as director of the Comprehensive Division of the Nanjing Municipal Planning Commission, deputy director, deputy secretary of the party group, county magistrate of jiangning county people's government, secretary of the jiangning county (district) party committee of Nanjing City, member of the standing committee of the Nanjing municipal party committee, secretary of the Lianyungang municipal party committee, secretary of the party committee of Jiangsu Bank Co., Ltd., and other convenient conditions for the formation of authority and status, directly or through the official conduct of other state functionaries, for relevant units and individuals in enterprise operation, project undertaking, Seeking benefits in matters such as job promotion and examination and approval of long-distance passenger lines, illegally accepting property from the above-mentioned units and individuals alone or through specific related persons amounts to more than RMB 25.08 million.
The Nantong Intermediate People's Court held that defendant Wang Jianhua's conduct constituted the crime of accepting bribes. Wang Jianhua accepted a particularly large amount of bribes, and some of the criminal facts had circumstances of demanding bribes. In view of the fact that he truthfully confessed his crime after arriving at the case, and voluntarily confessed most of the facts of the crime that the case-handling organs did not yet grasp, he could be given a lenient punishment in accordance with law. The Tribunal accordingly rendered the above-mentioned judgment.
