Christian Pulisic will make his debut for Chelsea since Aug. 14, after manager Thomas Tutchell said the U.S. international would appear in the Champions League squad to challenge Malmö on Tuesday.
Pulisic, 23, who injured his ankle in a World Cup qualifier against Honduras on Sept. 8, has struggled to recover, leaving Tucher with a claim last month that he was "really miserable" forced to miss. However, at a press conference ahead of Chelsea's flight to Sweden on Monday, Tucher said Pulisic contrasted mason Mount (ill), Romelu Lukaku (ankle injury), Timo Werner and Mateo Kovac (both with hamstring injuries).
"Unfortunately, these four players are still unable to play, but for Timo, Romelu and Kova, it's not surprising," he said. "For Mason, he doesn't feel any better, but I want everyone to stop speculating that it's not COVID.
"He was just sick, didn't feel good, couldn't go to training and couldn't join the Malmö trip. The good news is that Christian Pulisic is back in tomorrow's big list. ”
Chelsea are second in Group H, behind Juventus, but beat Malmö 4-0 in a comeback two weeks ago and took an important step towards qualifying in Tuesday's victory.
Christian Pulisic could return from injury in Tuesday's Champions League match.
After succeeding Lampard as manager at the end of January, Tutchell continued to enjoy his excellent start in West London, where Chelsea are now defending champions and also Champions League champions.
It also marked a personal shift in his sacking by Paris Saint-Germain on Christmas Eve, although he led Ligue 1 side to the Champions League final last season.
"I'm very grateful and I think I can stand here now because of my previous experience at other clubs," he added.
"I am grateful that this job was learned at the academy level, and in my career there have been some people who have trusted me and given me confidence, from my parents and the owner of the Youth College, to the managers who later came. So the goal of the coach is to do better every day and never stop learning and improving.
"Now it seems that from day one it was a perfect fit for me and I am very happy to be a part of this club. Maybe that's the last percentage. If you feel completely happy and grateful, then everything will be in place very authentically. As part of a larger team, you are able to create results together.
"I don't know if I need extra incentives. Apparently, I was not happy to be fired at Christmas because my mission at Paris Saint-Germain was not completed. I have a great plan to win the Champions League again and again.
"I'd love to go, we're already on the way. Of course, it was a huge distraction and a few weeks later, Chelsea presented a huge opportunity.
"Compared to the concerns and concerns about the 18-month contract, the desire to enter this joint venture is much higher. In football you need to take risks, you have to be brave and brave, and once you have a greater sense of engagement, I'm happy with where I am now and I hope every day is better. It's a nice environment. ”
