According to the French magazine 20 Minutes on April 19, a nightclub called Alegra in the French department of Marne will organize a "circus" event on April 23, which will be promoted on social networks, while saying that cougars, tigers, African leopards, snakes and monkeys will "attend" the event. But Metronews reported on April 18 that many of these animals are endangered protected animals.
Strongly opposed by animal protection groups
After the campaign began, many animal protection groups protested and demanded the cancellation of such activities. "It's ridiculous to have these animals in nightclubs." Cyril Leduc, head of animal protection group Les Félins, said in an interview.
These organizations worry that the environment will put too much pressure on the animals, and even worry that the people involved in the nightclub will give the animals some drugs. At the same time, they also pointed out that such activities are illegal.
Many animal protection groups have called on netizens online to write to the Marne provincial parliament recommending the cancellation of the event, and they have even launched a group chat, which has received the support of 4270 people as of noon on April 19.
At present, this event has not been cancelled and the publicity campaign is continuing. (End)
