The Path of Literature

Wang Yuewen really started studying after going to college. His first passion was foreign literature, such as Tolstoy, Balzac, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, and Hemingway. Chekhov's theatrical works he particularly loved to read, and loved the loneliness, pity and poetry in Chekhov's Seagulls, The Cherry Orchard and Uncle Vanya.

He still remembers the last few words of "The Cherry Orchard": "There came a voice, which seemed to come from a distant distance, from beyond infinity, like a broken string... Then the sound of axes cutting down trees rang out from the cherry orchards. ”

The cherry orchard was sold, and the cherry trees could only be cut down one by one. Man is helpless in the face of fate, whether you struggle or not.

Wang Yuewen has a special love for French literature, and the French seem to be romantic and sensual by nature, but their literature is very speculative. He loved to read Rabelais's "The Legend of the Giants", and many years later he encouraged his eight- or nine-year-old son to read it. The son actually read it, and the old man pestered him to tell the story inside. Wang Yuewen liked Beckett, often reciting his lines from "Waiting for Godot" for no reason: "Let's go, we can't?" Why not. We are waiting for Godot. "But Godot never came.

He also liked Tuniere, whose novels Friday ——— the Spirit Of the Pacific, and King Alder, earned him the Nobel Prize in Literature, though he did not.

In classical Chinese literature, the most worth reading is poetry. Classical Chinese poetry can be read for life and repeatedly. Poetry is not only empathetic, but also transferable, making people pure and elegant. A person who writes for a living is usually embarrassed by language and feels that his brain is clumsy and blunt. Then go read classical poetry, which may save your pen. Mr. Shen Congwen said that he could not find the sense of language, and read a few paragraphs of the "Book of Poetry", which is the truth.

What Wang Yuewen does not read much about modern and contemporary Chinese literature is that he rarely reads, especially contemporary literature. The modern Zhou brothers, other slightly involved. When he was young, he admired Lu Xun and could memorize many of his works, so that he inadvertently had his tone when writing. Later, he gradually became close to Zhou Zuoren, and even his seemingly leisurely words were read with relish. I feel more and more that there should be no hatred in life, but compassion and tolerance.

Official writer

People in the literary world say that I am an official, people in the officialdom say that I am a writer, and in fashionable terms, I am a marginal person. Actually, I don't count anything, just an awkward person.

Embarrassing people are partial to embarrassing things. One snowless winter, I spent all day in a hotel in a southern city, always going up and down the elevator. That winter, my mood was very gray, but others did not know. Growing up, dogma about men told me that men should be strong. So in the face of all kinds of helplessness, I just held on. Sometimes I was the only one left in the elevator, and looking at the shiny and cold aluminum alloy walls, I couldn't help but scream. Suddenly, the elevator door opened, and the hotel lobby was filled with well-dressed men and women in heavy makeup. I immediately straightened my waist, and my expression serenely blended into the decent crowd. But I knew in my heart that I didn't belong here.

The saddest thing about people is that they live in obscurity, and the most terrible thing is that they live too clearly. Later, I wrote about my own experience in the novel "Chinese Painting". This is actually the state of mind that I have been in for many years, and it is in this embarrassing state of mind that I have written some short stories and novels.

Perhaps, the most embarrassing thing is that a person reaches his thirties and realizes that many things in the world are not the same. I didn't believe my ears anymore because I was used to hearing too many lies. I have tried to trust my own eyes, and as a result I often see hypocrisy and deception. Now I have to trust my conscience. But will one day I deceive myself? If that day comes, I won't write novels.

Character anecdotes

Wang Yuewen signed and sold his latest novel,"Cang Huang," at the Beijing Book Building. At the meeting, he revealed that the Nanjing Gulou District People's Court was recently accepted

Wang Yuewen: It is a deep look back at my hometown

After settling the lawsuit over the publication of the book, he claimed 1 million yuan from two units. According to Wang Yuewen, he signed a novel publishing contract with Xinhua Pioneer in November 2008.

Previously, Xinhua Pioneer planned and published his collections of novels "Snail" and "Ordinary Days". Wang Yuewen believed that the sales of the two books exceeded the number of copies of the contract, so on July 3, 2009, he proposed to Xinhua Pioneer to withdraw from the cooperation, but the other party against his will, handed over the unfinished manuscript delivered earlier to Qunyan Publishing House, the book titled "Falling Wood Boundless". Wang Yuewen said that he had sued Qunyan Publishing House, Beijing Xinhua Pioneer Culture Media Co., Ltd., and two dealers in Nanjing and Beijing who sold "Falling Wood Boundless" to the court, demanding that Qunyan Publishing House and Beijing Xinhua Pioneer stop publishing "Falling Wood Boundless" and compensate for losses of 1 million yuan, and at the same time asking dealers to stop selling "Falling Wood Boundless". The Nanjing Gulou District People's Court accepted the case on July 28, 2009.
