Pan Linggao (1866-1954), also known as Xijiu, was a resident of Gecheng, a native of Northwest Village, Anzhou (ancient Gecheng) Town, Anxin County, Baoding City, Hebei Province, born on February 6, 1867 (the ninth day of the first month of the sixth year of the qing Tongzhi Dynasty). The shops of merchants in Shijin, Beijing, Hebei and other places are proud of the inscription plaque of The Pan family. There are also sayings such as "Cursive Three Yuans in Right Ren; List Book Tianjin Hua Shikui; Walnut Kai Beijing Pan Linggao". People at the time called his book "Pan Ti".
Pan Linggao was born in Shuxiangmendi, studied diligently as a teenager, and taught himself in his youth. He is familiar with the history of the classics, next to the hundred families of the sons; he likes to read Tang poems, Song Ci, Ming and Qing ancient texts, and is especially good at calligraphy. In 1894 (the twentieth year of Qing Guangxu), he was selected in the examination, and the following year, he was awarded the title of Hanlin in the twenty-three places of the temple examination, and was awarded the Hanlin Yuan Shujishi, known as Pan Hanlin.
