Xu Da is a native of Fengyang, Anhui, and is a fellow villager with Zhu Yuanzhang. In Hu Jun's version of Zhu Yuanzhang, Xu Da was a soldier with Tang He, earlier than Zhu Yuanzhang joined the Red Turban Army. But in real history, it was Tang He who wrote to Zhu Yuanzhang. Xu Da followed Zhu Yuanzhang since his infancy, watching Zhu Yuanzhang's strength grow all the way, and he was the one who made the greatest contribution. Poyang Lake destroyed Chen Youyi with him, Huaidong annihilated Zhang Shicheng with him, led the Northern Expedition, overthrew the Yuan Dynasty and him. In the entire military process of the founding and stabilization of the Ming Dynasty, Xu Da was present and in an important position. People have weaknesses, Xu Da is so powerful, but he is not greedy for money, nor is he lustful, is he having other plans? Although he knew that he should not suspect his brother who was born and died, Zhu Yuanzhang still couldn't help but test. Once, after Xu Da's triumphant return, Zhu Yuanzhang took the wind and washed the dust for him. During the banquet, Zhu Yuanzhang desperately poured Xu Da wine, and Xu Da was not easy to refuse, so he could only drink. Not long after, Xu Da was drunk.
After Xu Da was drunk, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered his people to send him to the "Old Interior" to rest. "Old Interior" is the palace where Zhu Yuanzhang lived when he was King of Wu. In the middle of the night, Xu Da woke up and was surprised to find that he was not at home. He asked the waiter next to him, "What is this place?" The waiter next to him told him, "Old Nei." Xu Da immediately got up, knelt on the steps, bowed north, and prostrated his head three times before leaving. Although Zhu Yuanzhang had previously said that he would give the "Wu King's Mansion" to Xu Da, he was still very happy after hearing about Xu Da's deeds.
For Xu Da, although Zhu Yuanzhang did not live in the "old interior", he slept in the bed where Zhu Yuanzhang once slept, that is, trespassing. If you accept it in a dignified way, you will definitely bring you the misfortune of killing yourself. So he immediately got up and prostrated himself to Zhu Yuanzhang's position to express his apologies. Sure enough, Zhu Yuanzhang ate this set very much. And it is precisely because of Xu Da's caution that he has never been liquidated by Zhu Yuanzhang for many years. And because he never asked for merit for himself, Zhu Yuanzhang had nothing to reward him for, so he had to add all his grace to his descendants. Most of Xu Da's daughters became princesses, and his sons also inherited titles, or hereditary commanding envoys.
