There are not many shovels in the deep mountain genus of Tianmu Mountain, mainly the lucky deep shovel and the Parry deep shovel (which is commonly known as The Perry Deep Mountain), these two varieties are easy to see in the outbreak season, and they may be seen on the road on the trees, not to mention the light temptation.
In addition to the above two varieties, this year began to have another kind of deep mountain shovel, to be precise, a new species of deep mountain shovel was discovered, that is, the Liu Wei deep mountain shovel that was just published in the first half of 2019. We have not seen a living body or specimen of this species at present, and we hope to have the opportunity to see it in Tianmu Mountain in the future.
Well, let's take a look at the deep mountain spade armor of Tianmu Mountain.
Lucky spade (Lucanida fortunei)
Distributed in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Anhui, Guangdong and other provinces in China, the male insect body length is about 27~52mm, and the female insect is about 24~32mm.
Lucky deep mountain spade male large jaw developed, large jaw curved at 1/3 of the base, the end part of the fork, the central part of the large inner teeth, the rear is a continuous small inner teeth, the head is flat and upward protrusion, the front thorax dorsal plate is broad and square, the tibia of the forefoot has only 2 to 3 tooth process, the posterior foot tarsal segment is shorter, the whole body is not shiny, the body surface is not covered with fine hairs, the body color and six feet are brown.

Trivia: Lucky spade belongs to China's protected insects, has been included in the list of three animals (the list of beneficial or important economic and scientific research value of the state protection of the terrestrial wildlife), together with the three spades of the species also included in the Chinese spade and giant fork shovel.

Lucanus parryi parryi
It is mainly distributed in Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and other regions, and belongs to small deep shovels, with males about 26-41.5 mm long and females about 24-27 mm. However, during our actual collection process, we found individuals with bodies growing more than 41 mm.
The Parry spade indicates that the subspecies is dark brown in color, but the elytra are yellowish brown overall (black at the edges), and there are also a small number of melanized individuals with all-black elytra, smooth dorsal bodies, and few sparse fine hairs in the abdomen.

The male has a short and curved jaw, with large bifurcated and unbasiced teeth at the ends; the anterior edge of the head is relatively straight, the ear process is nearly square and slightly upturned; the eye margin is blunter, the dorsal plate of the anterior thorax is more transverse, the anterior and posterior margins are wavy, the lateral margin is strongly inclined and concave, the anterior angle is pointed, and the posterior angle is nearly right angle.
The female has a brighter dorsal body than the male , with dense , deep notchings on the head , dorsal plate of the forebrea and elytra wings.

There are two subspecies of the Pare deep spade in China, in addition to the subspecies specified, it is also distributed in the western subspecies in Sichuan, Hubei, Henan, Guizhou, Shaanxi and other regions, and the larger size can reach 50mm+.
Lucanida liuweii
The newly published deep mountain spade species in 2019, produced in Tianmu Mountain, Zhejiang (the literature records that the habitat is located at an altitude of 1000 to 1400m), this species was discovered by the insect circle ashes player tareens in Hangzhou, and the new species was named after it. It is a small spade with a male body length of about 44.5 to 46.2 mm and a female about 27.5 to 32.5 mm.
The male of Liu Wei's deep mountain spade is somewhat similar to that of central China mountain, but its large jaw end forks the lower part and the base part is significantly curved (while the central China deep mountain spade is straighter). Females are similar to Daming deep spades, but the large jaws are significantly shorter than Daming deep spades, and the anterior angle of the dorsal plate of the front chest is basically rounded.

What other spade armor does Tianmu have?
At this point, the series introduction of the Tianmu Mountain spade armor variety has come to an end. In fact, these three articles do not contain all the spade armor varieties of Tianmu Mountain.
In addition to the pseudo-narrow pre-spade genus, spade genus, saw shovel genus, small knife spade genus, knife spade genus, deep mountain spade genus, there are actually many varieties, such as fat horn genus, round wing genus, ghost genus, flat spade genus, etc. Have corresponding varieties, due to limited energy, these related varieties we will not introduce in detail.
