The little-known French godhead landed in the Premier League amid a wave of doubts, parachuted into Arsenal, and who is Arsena when he first arrives? For Wenger, coming to a strange country and accepting strange challenges, everything has just begun!
On 22 October 1949, Arsène Wenger was born in a small town on the outskirts of the French city of Strasbourg.
Wenger was officially signed as a professional in 1969 at the age of 20, and for the next 12 years he played for the lower league teams in France, without making much of a splash in his career.
Wenger played football in the golden career of the player in the decade 1970-1980, and in 1971, Wenger was admitted to the University of Strasbourg to study political economy at the School of Economics and Management, focusing on academic research. In 1979, Wenger won the Ligue 1 title, a title that gave Wenger a more determined plan and idea for his career. In 1980, Wenger did not hesitate to choose to retire and began a persistent pursuit of life, and in 1981, Wenger obtained a coaching qualification certificate with his efforts.
In 1984, Wenger officially began coaching, and in the rookie season, he led Nancy to eleventh place in the league! Although they did not win the title, the Nancy management was willing to give the polite young man more time and opportunities, because last season, Nancy was only fourteen in the league, almost at the bottom.
In the second season, Wenger suffered the first major blow of his career, and the team was eventually relegated; in the third season, in the lower leagues, Wenger began to use the youth training concept, the scientific training concept, and the advanced technology support concept to run the team. Looking back now, Wenger's success is no accident. Unfortunately, Wenger was not able to help the team change the record immediately, and eventually parted ways.
After ending his coaching career in Nancy, the 36-year-old Wenger did not hesitate to face the olive branch thrown by Monaco. The coveted beauty finally happened – coaching a traditional team.
In Monaco's debut season, Wenger led Monaco back to the top of Ligue 1. You know, last season, Monaco was only fifth in the league! To some extent, this also made Wenger famous. In the second season, Monaco's defensive end was slow to cure, a bit of a top-heavy, and eventually, they slipped to third in the league. The 4-4-2 tactical system, Wenger has gradually matured. In 1991, Monaco won the French Cup. In 1994, Monaco fell to ninth, and Wenger was in charge at the end of the period, even falling to seventeenth place in the league. Monaco, known for its championship pursuit, ended its partnership with Wenger.
Wenger knew that I could not rest, and that I still had ideals to fulfill. In 1995, Wenger crossed the ocean and came to Japan to join Nagoya Whale Hachi. Here, Wenger led the Nagoya Whale Eight team to win the Japan Emperor's Cup and the Japan Super Cup, and was voted the best coach of the J League that year. Under the contact and understanding of Eurasian football, the professor's football philosophy was enriched. The Japanese J-League is certainly not Wenger's pursuit, he is just a step to pursue.
However, on the farewell night, Wenger spent a short time coaching in Japan, but he left a good memory for Nagoya Whale Eight and the fans. In September 1996, many burst into tears as Wenger said goodbye to spectators and Japanese fans watching in front of the TV at the Nagoya Whale Eight home stadium.
On April 20, 2018, the Premier League Arsenal officially announced that the 68-year-old current manager, French professor Wenger will leave the team at the end of this season, 22 years arsenal career is coming to an end, the time back to October 1996, Wenger from Japan Nagoya Whale Eight to coach Arsenal, when many Premier League fans and media asked: "Who is Alsena?" "To question and ridicule Arsenal for not choosing a famous coach, many media also bet on how often he will leave class." But he won the Premier League title in his first full season in charge.
22 years, there are too many stories here, 22 years, there are too many people's youth here, sit on the flywheel of time, let us taste this wonderful 22 years together!
Unbeaten in the debut season to Arsene Wenger brought Arsenal back
On 12 October 1996, Wenger made his Arsenal debut, and in that match, Arsenal's 2-0 victory over Blackburn also announced the arrival of Wenger, a 2-0 victory that made Wenger's Premier League debut look perfect inside and out! That season, Wenger won the North London derby 3–1.
Wenger led Arsenal to three Premier League titles, seven FA Cup titles and qualified for the Champions League for 17 consecutive seasons. During his tenure, Wenger led Arsenal to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup titles, and he led the team to a record of 49 unbeaten matches, which is still the longest unbeaten game in the Premier League. In 2003–04, Arsenal won the Premier League title unbeaten run and was Arsene Wenger's last Premier League title during his tenure. The Gunners created a miracle of 49 consecutive league unbeaten games at the time, which is still the longest unbeaten game in the Premier League to date.
The stars who have worked with Wenger are almost all professors' disciples:
Wright
Before Wenger came to Arsenal, Wright was an absolute player in the team, and he and the professor briefly worked together in 1996-1998, and Wenger Arsenal made his debut, which was Wright's second degree. He broke Arsenal's player record with 179 goals and also crowned Arsenal a double title in the 97-98 Premier League and FA Cup;
Seaman:
Seaman came to Arsenal almost at the same time as Wright, and he and Wenger worked together from 1996 to 2003. In his 13-year career as a gunner, Heyman has made countless achievements, even at the age of 40, Heyman will continue to follow Wenger to the battlefield, escort Arsenal, and make Arsenal a double champion twice.
Campbell
Wenger ignored the smoke of derby and directly signed Campbell from his sworn enemy Tottenham Hotspur, and from 2001 to 2006, he gave Campbell a new life. While solidifying the defense, he can also score points with set pieces.
Van Persie
An important signing in the Arsene Wenger Arsenal era, from 2004 to 2012, Van Persie followed Wenger through the thorns. He also grew up to be Arsenal's captain and Premier League top scorer under Wenger, and at Arsenal became a mainstream top scorer in European football. And Van Persie's move to Manchester United also makes people have mixed feelings.
Fabregas
Playing for Arsenal from 2003 to 2011, the 18-year-old Fabregas was given high hopes by Wenger, which was also the result of Wenger's meticulous youth training. At the age of 16 he was already an Arsenal first-team player, and the small rule was brought in and nurtured by Wenger from Barcelona with the help of scouting.
Ljungberg
Playing for Arsenal from 1998 to 2007, Wenger brought in swedish player Ljungberg, who was as unknown as arsenal he had been to, and almost no one was optimistic about the signing. But then, Ljungberg made five holes in the Manchester United goal, and looking back, Wenger's signing was a valuable asset for Arsenal. It was Ljungberg who scored in consecutive FA Cup finals to give Arsenal a double.
Pire
In his 2000-2006 Gunner career, Piré, like Ljungberg, only came to prominence after coming to Arsenal under Wenger's training. Piré is also one of the Gunners' 49-game unbeaten run, and he is also Arsenal's player of the season in 2001.
Vieira
From 1996 to 2005, he and Wenger came to Arsenal almost at the same time, Vieira was not a player directly introduced by Wenger, but it was Wenger's entry that made his talent and potential full play. Arsenal are unbeaten in the season, captained by Vieira, who is also a core member of Arsenal's three-time title-winning title.
Ice Prince Bergkamp
From 1995 to 2006, he shined in the hands of Wenger, and Bergkamp, who originally liked art football, was born in Wenger's tactical system, and he was also a literary player under Wenger.
Henry
From Monaco to Arsenal from 1999 to 2007, the relationship between master and apprentice shook the ancient and the present. Under Wenger, Henry began to kill in the Premier League and grew into the first man in the Premier League. In his first career as a Gunners he scored 226 goals, setting an Arsenal club record for goalscoring. Five years later, in 2012, the master and apprentice continued the frontier.
Wenger's formidable opponents have made themselves better:
They used to fight each other, they used to love and kill each other. This is Wenger and Mourinho, when untamed meets gentle and elegant, destined to rub a different spark. The two can be called a famous pair of rivals in the Premier League, since the magic bird joined Chelsea in 2004, his confrontation with Wenger has grown year by year, the two have met a total of 14 times, Mourinho 7 wins, 6 draws and 1 loss occupy an absolute advantage, the goal-loss ratio is also 21-5, the gap is obvious. These included a classic moment at Stamford Bridge's 6-0 sweep of Arsenal and a spoiler for Wenger to coach the Gunners for 1,000 games. The Frenchman's only victory came in last year's Community Shield, when he led the team to a 1-0 win over Chelsea to win the trophy.
Even in the eyes of madman Jose Mourinho, Wenger and Ferguson are the greatest rivals.
In the 1990s and early 2000s, Ferguson's Manchester United ruled the Premier League, and Wenger's Arsenal were the only team that could compete with it, and compared to the current sympathy, the relationship between the two was once very tense during the most competitive period of the league.
Great life, must need great opponents, the Premier League era, Ferguson and Wenger brought us another wonderful.
The legend ended and went down in history
'Thank you for letting me stay this long, I know it's not easy, and the most important reason is that I'm an Arsenal fan like you.' Wenger picked up the microphone and gave his farewell speech. "I will miss you and thank you for being an important part of my life."
Looking back at Wenger's coaching career at Arsenal, the achievements are not remarkable. Three Premier League titles, six FA Cup titles and five Community Shield titles are the glory he brings to the team. Although Arsenal's performance under Wenger has been poor in recent years, no one can deny the contribution of the professor.
The legend ends, the king of guns, not a striker, but Wenger himself!
