Canada: The occupational classification system will be reformed
Recently, ESDC and Statistics Canada released information that Immigration Canada will carry out a comprehensive reform of the current National Occupational Classification (NOC) in the fall of 2022. While the federal government has yet to announce which applicants the reform will affect, immigrant applicants in the economic and foreign labor categories will be affected.
The Canadian government uses the noc system to classify occupations. The NOC system is evaluated annually and updated every five years to ensure that it truly reflects Canada's changing labour market. The noc system undergoes a comprehensive overhaul every 10 years, and the current classification list is the version of the 2011 reform.
