Central Station (also known as Sydney Terminus) is the largest railway station in Sydney and New South Wales, Australia, located just south of the Sydney Metropolitan Area. It has almost all of the city rail services, and some rail services to towns in New South Wales.
This is an old station with a history of more than 150 years, although it has a long history, it still has good modern transportation technology, here, the various lines meet and exchange, is also a large transit station, basically all trains can reach here, the transportation network is very developed, here by train is particularly convenient.
Sydney Central Station is located in the heart of the city center, a very beautiful old building, it is Sydney's largest and most comprehensive train transit station. The station has a total of 27 platforms, 23 on the ground and 4 on the ground. The number of platforms is the highest in Australia.
The construction and development of Sydney Station was divided into three phases, and it was officially opened on 26 September 1855, located on the south side of devonshire street, then known as "Cleveland". At that time, the station was called redfern, and there was only a main line from Parramatta to Central Station, and the station facilities were very simple at that time, with no gates and signs.
Soon the station became unsatisfactory, and in 1874 a new station, also known as Laidfen Station, was rebuilt on the site of the station. There are 2 harbor platforms in the old station building, and after the completion of the station building at the new station, another 14 new platforms were built.
Sydney Central Station, used today, was designed in 1901 and opened on 4 August 1906. The new station is located on the north side of Devonshire Street, and trains must cross Devonshire Street to reach the new station, so a section of Devonshire Street becomes a pedestrian tunnel.
On 3 March 1921, a new bell tower was built on the top floor of the lobby on the north-west side, which has now become the main symbol of the station and one of Sydney's landmarks. This main station building is still in use today.
In March 1926, the first electrification project was completed, and in December of the same year, the first section of the urban loop was completed.
Sydney Central Station is more impressive for its intricate passages like an underground labyrinth, with wandering singers and street performers. Because there are many means of transportation such as trains, urban transportation, and trams, you must pay attention to the instructions at the station when riding and transferring, so as not to make mistakes. It is also a tourist attraction where you can easily take the tram to other attractions to see.
These inspirations from Sydney are for all to experience.
