The Tomb of the Qin Dynasty of the Tang Dynasty, located in Baoji, Shaanxi, was the joint burial tomb of Li Maozhen, the emissary of the Guanzhong region, and his wife during the Tang Dynasty. After the fall of the Tang Dynasty, Li Maozhen supported the army and respected himself, dominated Guanzhong for more than thirty years, and also established the State of Qi, although he did not nominally ascend the throne as emperor, but he enjoyed the treatment of emperors before and after his death, so his tomb was also called a mausoleum. Li Maozhen's mausoleum has been unattended for a long time, but in March 2001, it was attacked by a group of tomb robbers, and archaeologists immediately excavated and protected Li Maozhen's mausoleum, thus unveiling the mystery of the tomb of the Tang Dynasty Qin King.
The entire Tomb of the Tang Dynasty Qin King is grand in scale, not inferior to the tombs of other emperors of previous dynasties, covering an area of about 20,000 square meters, with mountain gates, Shinto, sacred figurines, prayer halls and other above-ground buildings, except for stone statues, the others are not well preserved. After more than a year of in-depth excavation, experts opened the underground palace of the mausoleum and were surprised to find that there were two well-preserved palaces under the underground palace, which is an extremely rare burial chamber structure. The length of the palace is about 120 meters, and not only the lifelike Hu Ren Ma Le Figurine Honor Guard, but also the exquisite frescoes are well preserved. After cleaning, a total of 735 pieces of gold, porcelain, jade and pottery of various types have been unearthed.
After research, the experts also determined the identity of the owner of the tomb from the excavated epitaph, that is, Li Maozhen and his wife Liu Shi, each enjoying an underground palace. In the Quan Tang Wen, it is recorded that Feng Xiang Jiedu made Li Maozhen's wife Liu Shi of Qin enter the State of Qi, saying that after Li Maozhen established the State of Qi, Liu Shi also became an empress, but it is interesting that posterity evaluated Liu Shi as the only empress in Chinese history who did not marry the emperor, which although it seems contradictory, is completely in line with historical facts. It is worth mentioning that experts found a unique treasure when cleaning up Mrs. Liu's palace.
In the beginning, experts were busy clearing the silt in the corridor, and the deepest parts were not above the knees. In the process, experts found a stone letter buried under the silt, about 47.5 cm long, about 35.8 cm wide and about 34.3 cm high, carved from bluestone material, with a plain surface on the front and back, left and right, and a geometric ornament engraved on the top lid. On closer inspection, the cracks in the stone letter were also found to be sealed well, so the experts were overjoyed and eager to open it immediately to see what treasure was inside. In order to better protect the stone letter, the experts did not rush to open it, but sent it to the museum at the first time, and then studied it.
In the previous excavations of the mausoleum, experts have also unearthed a lot of stone letters, usually containing mourning books or treasures, as well as some extremely valuable things. In order to find out what was in this stone letter, the experts formulated a plan to open the letter, and after several months of busyness, they finally opened the stone letter and found that there was a rectangular gilded iron box inside, although it had been rusted, but its exquisite shape and ornamentation were still visible. Immediately afterward, the experts carefully took out the iron box, first removed the rust on the surface of the iron box, and then lifted the lid of the box to see that inside was an iron plate, about 28 cm long and about 16 cm wide, and the surface had already been seriously rusted. Experts took out the iron plate, found that it is slightly curved, clean rust can see that there are traces of carved text on the iron plate, but unfortunately the text content can not be distinguished for a while.
Some experts speculate that perhaps the iron plate is the legendary Danshu iron coupon. The so-called Danshu iron coupon, which is often said by the people to avoid death, is a kind of privileged credential given by the ancient emperor to the hero, and the possession of the Danshu iron coupon can not only be exempt from punishment, but even if he commits a capital crime, he can also be exempted. According to historical records, the Danshu iron coupon originated from Liu Bang, the ancestor of Han Gao, and was later developed in successive dynasties, such as the Tang Dynasty Qian Wei who obtained the Danshu iron coupon, which is now collected in the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. Comparing the iron coupons of qian wei danshu with the iron plate of the tomb of the Tang Dynasty And Qin king, the two also have similarities in shape, so the speculation of experts is not unreasonable, and Li Maozhen escorted Tang Shuzong before his death, and his Li surname was given by Tang Shuzong, so it is not surprising to reward him with a Danshu iron coupon.
However, the iron plate of the Tomb of the Great Tang Dynasty and Qin Dynasty was so badly corroded that all the words were no longer readable, so it was still impossible to accurately judge what it was. Later, experts sealed the iron plate and the iron box in the stone letter, and then opened it after the progress of cultural relics restoration technology in the future, at which time the identity of the iron plate may be revealed, and also give the majority of readers a perfect explanation.
