There is a friendship called: Ji Kang and Shan Tao

If you have a friend, 19 years younger than you. You want to recommend him to become an official, but instead of refusing, he also writes a letter to break off relations with you. How do you feel?

You must think: this is not a typical ignorance!

This ill-fated figure was Ji Kang, the famous scholar of Wei jin and the "spiritual leader" of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest. The person who was 19 years older than him and wanted to recommend him to take his place was named Shantao, who was also one of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest.

Let's take a look at the backgrounds of the two

There is a friendship called: Ji Kang and Shan Tao

Shantao's father's cousin was the mother of Sima Yi's wife, Zhang Chunhua, and Sima Zhao's father was called Uncle Guan Shantao, and Guan Shantao was also called an old cousin or a big brother. Because Shantao was three years older than Sima Shi and six years older than Sima Zhao.

Sima Zhao had two sons, Sima Yan the eldest and Sima You, the second eldest. Sima Shi had five daughters, but he had no sons. So Sima Zhao passed on his second son Sima You to his brother. After Sima Shi's death, Sima Zhao was made king of Jin and took over his brother's place. After a few more years, Sima Zhao was also old, and he had to consider the question of heirs, he liked the eldest son Sima Yan, and considered that the second son Sima You was the heir of his brother, and his position was inherited from his brother, and it was only right to pass the throne to Sima You. Undecided for a moment, he asked Shantao for advice. Shan Tao replied, "It is ominous to abolish the eldest son and establish a young son, which violates the etiquette system." The security of the country will be determined by this matter. Therefore, Sima Zhao made up his mind to make Sima Yan the son of the world. Sima Yan knew that this matter must be a thousand thanks to Shantao! When Sima Yan officially ascended the throne as Emperor Wu of Jin, he immediately made Shantao the acting Grand Hongxu, what was his position? He is the official in charge of the affairs of the protocol. Ranked as one of the nine secretaries, similar to the functions of today's foreign minister.

Speaking of Ji Kang, whose ancestor's original surname was Xi, was a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang. In order to avoid the enemy family, the great-grandfather moved his family and changed his surname to Ji. Ji Kang's father, Ji Zhaoguan ZhizhiShu Shi ( 侍御史 ) , belonged to the judicial system as a civilian official in charge of the books and documents , and his rank belonged to Liupin . Ji Kang's father died early and was raised by his mother and brother.

In the words of Shan Tao: Uncle Ji is also a man, and Yan Yan is the independence of the lone pine; his drunkenness is also the collapse of the Golem Ruoyu Mountain. This is how the idiom of the jade mountain will collapse comes from. Saying that Ji Kang was drunk looked very good. Legend has it that Ji Kang was one meter eight tall, with a dignified appearance, outstanding talent, and a proper handsome man. He was attracted to the lord of Changle Pavilion, and the lord of Changle Pavilion married Ji Kang. The lord of this Changle Pavilion was Cao Cao's great-granddaughter, so Ji Kang became a relative of the emperor. "Received bailangzhong, later served as the doctor of Zhongsan", who was also an official of Zhengwupin.

Unfortunately, during this period, the Cao family declined, and the Sima family grew stronger, and there was a momentum to replace it. As the saying goes: the heart of Sima Zhao, passers-by are well known. This is already an open secret.

Shan Tao takes Ji Kang as his best friend. It's just that one of them serves the Sima family and the other commits himself to the Cao family, and once the contradiction between the Sima clan and the Cao clan breaks out, the ideological conflict between the two of them must be inevitable. Therefore, there was the later "Book of Renunciation with Mountain Juyuan".

Ji Kang actually said two things in the letter: 1. Everyone said that we were good friends, but you didn't understand me. 2) My personality is not suitable for being an official, and there are at least nine reasons.

We don't know what Shan Tao's expression was after seeing this letter, but there is an indisputable fact that there will be many people on the Sima family's side who scold Ji Kang for not knowing good villains. One of the most hated ones must be Zhong Hui. Ji Kang's arrogance offended Zhong Hui, and Zhong Hui was bent on putting Ji Kang to death.

Seven Sages of the Bamboo Forest

Ji Kang knew that he would not be able to escape death, and began to think about the aftermath. To everyone's surprise, Ji Kang entrusted his son Ji Shao to Shantao before leaving.

Shan Tao did not live up to the trust, raised the eight-year-old Ji Shao to adulthood, and recommended him to be an official during the Jinwu Emperor period, leaving behind the idiom "Ji Shao is not alone". Shan Tao himself was ranked as the third duke, and died at the age of seventy-nine.

Does ShanTao really not understand Ji Kang? If Ji Kang turned his back on the Cao family and threw himself into the arms of the Sima family, would his career be smooth? No one can answer these questions. One thing is certain that Ji Kang knew Shantao, and at the moment when he entrusted his son to Shantao, Ji Kang still regarded Shantao as a friend. Ji Kang did not entrust his son to Ruan Zhi and other bamboo forest sages, nor did he entrust him to his brother, but only to Shantao. On the one hand, it is out of trust in Shantao, on the other hand, there are also considerations for the future of his son Ji Shao's life, right?

On the day of the execution, three thousand Tai students collectively knelt down to petition, begging Sima Zhao to pardon Ji Kang and asking ji Kang to come to Taixue to teach, if at this time Ji Kang asked Shantao for help, showed favor to Zhong Hui, confessed his mistake to Sima Zhao, and might not be able to save his life, but he did not.

Before his execution, Ji Kang's face was like stopping water. He looked at the shadow of the sun and knew that there was still a period of time before the execution, so he asked his brother Ji Xi for the piano he usually liked to use, and stroked a song "Guangling San" on the execution ground. At the end of the song, he calmly killed, when he was forty years old. It is said that Sima Zhao soon realized his mistake, but he could not regret it.

Guangling San

Ji Kang's great-grandfather avoided the enemy family because he loved to offend people, and this kind of personality or tutoring is probably inherited.

Ji Kang believed that the Cao clan was orthodox in his bones, and naturally did not want to succumb to the Sima family. But after decades of war in the Three Kingdoms, what is orthodox or unorthodox?

In essence, death is not afraid, what is there to be afraid of? What other solution can't solve the problem that death can solve? Sometimes, for a person, death is the inevitable destination, and death is the best destination.

Let's take a look at what our friends have to say about the two:

Wang Rong (Commenting on Ji Kang): Having lived with Ji Kang for twenty years, he has never tasted his joy.

Wang Rong (Commenting on Shantao): Like Hun Jin Pu Jade, everyone admires its treasure, and it is not well known for its instrument.

Liu Yiqing (Commenting on Ji Kang): Ji Kang is seven feet eight inches long and has a unique style. The seer sighed: "Xiao Xiao is solemn, refreshing and clear." Or cloud: "Solemn as the wind under the pine, high and slow to lead." ”

Liu Yiqing (Commenting on Shantao): The Duke of Shan looked forward to the mountain with a heavy instrument, was more than seventy years old, and he knew that he was in charge at that time. The mountain situ has been elected all over the place without losing talent, and all the topics are as they say.

Zhong Hui (評嵇康): Ji Kang, Wolong Ye, can not rise. There is no worry about the world, and Gu Yikang is worried about the ear.

Pei Kai (Commenting on Shantao): Seeing the huge source of the mountain is like climbing a mountain.

In this article, I hope that in addition to knowing the allusion of the "Book of Renunciation with Shan Juyuan", you must also know the idiom of "Ji Shao is not alone"; in addition to knowing that Ji Kang's Guangling is scattered into a song, you must also know "it is not a worry and a mountain gong".

After all, it's harder to live than to die, and it's a thousand times harder.
