Heilongjiang Daily, December 5, "Scientific research is a career that can be done for a lifetime without end. Looking back on his own scientific research path, Hou Lei sighed that many people think that theoretical research is boring and difficult to achieve results, which requires more people to do it, especially research that is crucial to national development and construction.
Hou Lei, who is in his early 30s this year, studied at Harbin Institute of Technology and is now an associate professor at the School of Astronautics of HIT, mainly engaged in nonlinear dynamics and vibration control research of aero engine rotor systems, and is committed to clarifying the vibration fault mechanism of aircraft engine rotor systems to improve fault diagnosis capabilities and structural dynamics design levels.
Why choose the path of scientific research? "Interesting to say, I was 'attracted' to the mentor's personal charm." Hou Lei laughed. In 2008, the newly introduced academician Chen Yushu of the General Mechanics Discipline of the School of Astronautics held a symposium, at which he talked about his determination to undertake the scientific research tasks of major national needs and strive to cultivate talents for the country, Hou Lei was deeply infected, and decided to "cross" from automation majors to mechanics, and to Baoyan to Academician Chen's research group.
Interprofessional means starting all over again, with a year's worth of self-study of four years of undergraduate courses, during which the scientific research dream has been hit several times. "In order to prove that my choice is correct, I have made a lot of efforts over a long period of time, not only to make up the basics, but also to understand scientific research more deeply."
With such persistence, Hou Lei broke through the cocoon into a butterfly in the new field. He has published a number of SCI papers when he graduated, and in 2017, he also won the first "Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Chinese Mechanics" award. In recent years, Hou Lei has presided over and participated in a number of national key projects, has 2 authorized national invention patents, and has won 1 second prize for scientific and technological progress in Heilongjiang Province, and the relevant achievements have formed theoretical support for field research.
At this stage, teaching, scientific research, and guiding students constitute the three core parts of Hou Lei's work, and these three parts jointly point to a goal: "Combine your work with the cultivation of talents, scientific and technological development, and economic construction in our province, and make the greatest contribution to the development of Heilongjiang and even the country." Hou Lei said.
