The famous diving website scuba diving has recently selected the 2016 Underwater Photography Awards, which are divided into four categories - wide angle, macro, concept photography, portable cameras, and a special award. Let's take a look at the stories behind these stunning underwater photographs told by the photographers.

Crown jellyfish (scientific name: cephea cephea): is a huge jellyfish, the umbrella surface is disc-shaped, up to 50-70 cm in diameter, warty bell-shaped umbrella disc in the center of the mound-like protrusion, the middle of the outer umbrella has a tightening groove, the umbrella is divided into upper and lower parts, the corresponding gastric sac is also divided into upper and lower parts. In Japan and China, this jellyfish is also used medicinally. When I found this beautiful jellyfish, I was looking for some small fish around, but what I found was this little crab knight. Sea turtles also prey on crown jellyfish, and before we spot this jellyfish, we see a green turtle nearby.

"In 2014, I was looking for great white sharks while traveling in Guadalupe Isla. Because I rarely go to repeat destinations, I know my chances are only this one. These two sharks made our diving exciting. But it never got the perfect picture, so in 2015, I returned there. A lot has changed in a year. This time we have 9 great white sharks and hammerhead sharks! I acted immediately. In August, when the water is crystal clear and male sharks are eager to try it. Female sharks are larger, but males are more active and photogenic. Show it off before us, and this year, I'm going there for the third time. ”

"Sardines migrate along the coast of South Africa, and it is the sardines that all marine predators feed on. We spent hours searching the sea, especially for the activity of the gannets. As we hear the frantic gannets getting louder and louder, they plunge straight into the water from the air and dive down, breaking through the sea level. Before the water, I couldn't imagine the incredible picture in the sea. I was lucky enough to shoot the right predators at the right time in the right place. ”

"I knew I was standing in the middle, as if I were facing a window, so I waited, waited, until finally I, when the animal came to the exact position. I adjusted the flash, and the thick layers at both ends blocked the light, and finally got the effect in the picture. ”

"gammaridean – an underwater ladybug with a colorful shell, you can find them in various places like soft corals, sea squirts and more at the yellow wall dive site, they're almost everywhere! This photo is challenging because they are very small. I chose this group because they all come together. ”

"The secret bay of WheatGa in the Philippines, Anirao, is probably the best place for creature diving in time. A rare giant octopus with nowhere to hide. The octopus was sitting on an old tire, and I gradually approached it, trying not to cause it to panic, hoping to get a picture of it sitting on the tire. The closer I got, the more it ducked in. Many of the shrimp that had been hidden in the tires crawled out. This picture is the reward for my patience."

"I had a concept in my mind after filming this group of eels in Nisi, India. Looking at this photo, I noticed that the fish bore a very similar resemblance to the leaves at the top of the tree. I wanted the background to take on a cool hue, with fish swimming through snowflakes and withered trees. I searched for a long time in Colorado to find this tree and waited for it to snow. It ended up taking months to shoot and create. ”

"My friend and I were snorkeling freely at 85 feet underwater while this whale shark was hunting plankton near the surface of Bird of Paradise Bay. We kept a certain distance from it. We looked upside down at this sea behemoth, and in this way the sharks looked like birds on land, and I was very pleased with the unique composition of this photo. ”

"There is no specific style in underwater photography, I try different, new ideas and techniques. When I saw this skinny scorpion, I kept telling myself that I had to do something special. I only have my diving flashlight, so I use it as a backlight. When I took a lot of pictures, I was looking at the pictures that were taken and I found this one. That's the effect I want. ”

"This photo was taken at dawn, relatively early, and there wasn't much natural light. I tried to use different angles and settings, but my individual flash didn't have enough power to illuminate the picture. Because there are still a lot of divers around, the parrotfish will soon be gone. I was a little frustrated. Finally, I lay on a sloping sand and waited until they passed in front of me! I thought, what if I turn off the flash and just use natural light? So I turned off the flash, natural light shone through, and this kind of photo was born! ”
