There are many stories about the gods in Both China and the West, and "Pan's Labyrinth" is a mythological film set in World War II. Filled with elements of desire, darkness, gore, violent thrillers, and more, the film is a dark fairy tale tailored for adults.
On the surface, the protagonist of the movie is an innocent, weak and beautiful girl, who is told by Pan Shen that she is the daughter of Luna who has gone missing in the human world, and can only return to the divine world after passing the triple test. The girl and her mother have to cling to a vicious officer in order to survive, and the girl chooses to enter the unknown underground world in order to get rid of the suffering and cruelty of the world.
In fact, the movie is set by a double heroine, and the maid hidden next to the officer of the Annin Thief is another heroine. Both of them are carrying secrets, and the girl goes back and forth underground with Pan's test. The maid used her identity to provide information and help to the underground party that had overthrown the brutal officers.
In these two "secret confrontations", they face a series of tests such as desire, affection, justice, commitment and so on.
In fact, the director's intention is obvious, through a bright and dark two lines to show that during the fascist rule, the name is not good. The girl's mother is because of the war family and has no fixed place, and can only sell her beauty to commit herself to various officers to become a fertility machine.
The officer only knows how to kill and mutilate the lives of the people, and his mind is full of the sick desire to give birth to a son, who represents the inheritance just as his father died on the battlefield.
The world is chaotic, just as the labyrinth of the god Pan ends at the temple. But the last stage is to pay tribute to the blood of innocent people, and the girls and maids represent the warriors who fought in that era, and they completed their mission with the purest heart.
"Pan God's Labyrinth" is absurd and chaotic but full of deep meaning, everyone is born at the beginning of the labyrinth with their own mission, and it is your story and me that do not stop passing to the end.
