I have been fascinated by the word "Gusu" for a long time, and the Gusu Yanziwu in "Tianlong Babu" was the dream place I had when I was young.
In the next is not Yan control, but "Gu Su" still brings me a wonderful feeling, is the blessing of suzhou beauty, or the gentle and heavy influence of Suzhou history, I don't know. Therefore, to write About Jiangsu, we must first write About Suzhou, and all the place names in Suzhou are like Gusu that can cause me curiosity and throbbing the most.
Gusu District is the youngest district I have ever written about, and there is no one.
The earliest mention of "Gu Su" is the "Chinese", which records in the "Wu Language" of this classic: "Enter Qiqi Qi, burn Its Gu Su", which means that the Yue Kingdom invaded the State of Wu and burned Gu SuTai.
The Chinese was compiled in the early Warring States period (476 BC – 221 BC). The formation of place names should have preceded written records, so the term "Gusu" should have appeared earlier.
It is said that when Dayu was managing water in the Taihu Lake area, he had two main assistants, one named "Xu", who was the abandoned son of Shun's minister of agriculture, and the other called "Meditation", the son of Shun's minister of civil affairs, Qi.
The three districts before the establishment of Gusu District were also newly established after the founding of the People's Republic of China, but they were also place names with a strong history.
On September 21, 1955, the southern district was named Canglang District after the Song Dynasty garden Canglang Pavilion in the territory, and the name of "Canglang District" was officially used from October 1. On November 5, 1966, Canglang District was changed to Hongqi District. On June 1, 1979, Hongqi District reverted to its original name. In April 1980, the Revolutionary Committee was abolished and the Canglang District People's Government was established.
Canglang Pavilion is one of the four famous gardens in Suzhou, and is the oldest garden in Suzhou, with natural scenery, simple and elegant architecture, and is a typical urban mountain forest. Canglang Pavilion was once the private garden of the famous Southern Song Dynasty general Han Shizhong, adding more legendary color to it.
In the fourth year of Song Kaibao (971), the name of the Southern Tang Dynasty was changed to Jiangnan Kingdom. In the seventh year of Kaibao (974), the Song Dynasty wu yue cut down jiangnan. In the eighth year of Kaibao (975), the Zhongwu army was renamed the Pingjiang Army. In the same year, Song appointed Wu Yue's Sun Chengyou as an envoy to pingjiang, with the intention of pacifying Li Yu's jiangnan state. The word "Pingjiang" today means to pacify the southern kingdom of The Jiangsu At that time. Since then, Suzhou has been known as the "Pingjiang River" in history.

From October 1, 1955, the districts of Suzhou were renamed, the east district was renamed Pingjiang District, the north district was renamed Beita District, and the central district was renamed Guanqian District. The name of the political district of "Pingjiang District" began here. In November 1966, Pingjiang District was renamed Dongfeng District. On June 1, 1979, the original name of Pingjiang District was restored.
Jinchang District refers to the area from Kinmen to Changmen. The name is also derived from the Golden Gate and the Gate of Zhao. In October 1955, the names of the urban areas of Suzhou Changed, and the West District was renamed Jinchang District. In 1967, Suzhou Jinchang District was renamed Yan'an District. On June 9, 1980, Yan'an District of Suzhou City was renamed Jinchang District.
Kinmen is relatively young, starting in 1922 - before the Golden Gate was opened, from the city to Tiger Hill, Fengqiao and other places, you had to enter and exit from The Gate. Due to the congestion of the road, there are many accidents between cars and horses, so it is necessary to open another door and "find another way". During the Republic of China period, in order to communicate the connection between Guanqian Street and The Zhangmen Commercial District, the South New Bridge was built in 1921 and the Golden Gate was opened in 1922.
Zhangmen has a long history and is the west gate of the beginning of the founding of Suzhou. "阊" means to pass the weather, indicating that the Kingdom of Wu will be blessed by the gods and become stronger and stronger. And because Wu wanted to destroy Chu, the gate was located towards the Chu state, so it was also called the Broken Tru gate.

Gusu District, Suzhou City, the whole area of 83.4 square kilometers, including 14.2 square kilometers of the ancient city, the registered population of 735,000, the permanent population of 958,000.
